Billy will not want to see that header over the bar again...great cross from Gibson to set it up.

That's a shocker , Ironside would have got slaughtered on here for that

I’m still not sure Billy is offside!

Alan if you can’t tell he was offside by the replay I think you need to go to specsavers.

Looking at it again, I think the keeper might have got the slightest touch which made enough difference to deviate away from the full meat of Billy's forehead.
Good game, two decent teams, not many mistakes made and one we finished the stronger after going behind. Good performance overall looking far more in control. Hopefully, the last three games shows we're building some consistency.

Even though I thought Billy was poor today, that was in no way a sitter. Sure it hit his head a few yard out, but he’s got no vision of that ball coming to him. There were players expected to get that before him. Very difficult. If you’ve played the game you’ll know that already.

When the free kick is taken, yes Billy goes forward but so does the Crewe player to his right, which isn’t clear from the highlights.
Oh, and I go to Specsavers regularly for check up’s!

Comfortably offside, clear when pausing the video on Gibsons contact.

In his interview Grant says the keeper got a nick on the cross

The keeper definitely got a touch on it before it reached Billy

The slow and deliberate build up really hampered us today. They set themselves up and we didn't have the movement up front to break them down, resulting in more lateral and backwards passes to start again.
It would of been good to see us mix it up once in a while, when we did break quickly with quick passes we scored!
We need to be braver and take on the more difficult through balls, when we do this it makes the opposition think twice and gains you that extra yard of room.
-
It doesn’t help either when Moly gets two defenders on him in the final third and that is happening every week now.

Well offside, wasnt even close. That should not happen from a set piece. Not that clear anyway

The keeper touches it onto the bar, does that make Billy onside in the second phase

If that's the case I'll retract that statement

The keeper definitely got a touch on it before it reached Billy
Keeper flapped at it and missed it. The ball didnt even move slightly during the cross and with the pace it was played in at if the keeper got a nick it would of been evident. Billy got a good connection but mis timed it which put it over.
Grant will say the keeper touched it to stick up for billy slightly. He isnt gonna say that he missed a glaring opurtunity to the cameras and risk upsetting the fana favourite
-
We sit in the West stand and it looked at the time line the keeper got a touch.

Nobody is mentioning the trip on one of our players in the area our vid team said a certain pen, I said straight away a pen as I saw it and ref in a good position.

The laws of the game clearly state no penalties will be awarded against Crewe at the Ecopower

when was this I can’t really remember any incidents
-
In the second half we attacked down the left and our player was clearly tripped as he went past the defender, and the defender would have probably had to be sent off if given, sometimes the reason the ref bottles it in tight games.
I sit in front of the camera and said that's a pen, nobody else made a comment then the analysing team said yes a clear penalty.
The ref had a clear view of it and waved it away.

Yes, I thought Flaming had his legs taken from under him. Seemed quite clear to me but then of course, you question yourself when the ref plays on. Fleming was quite certain the way he came over to the touchline. I don't know why he was having a go at the other linesman. Maybe he thought he was the fourth official.
-
Thought the Ref had a good game to be honest.

Besides not dealing with the blatant time wasting?
-
Thought the Ref had a good game to be honest.
Yes, overall he was good and it was probably one of the easier games to ref as both sides played football for the most part with very little play acting, clean fair aerial challenges etc. Same with the assistants who kept up with play making the right calls.
-
Absolute shocker from broadbent for their goal.
He just lazily jogs back near their player, then throws his arms up in disgust when he scores.
He was the best placed player to put a tackle in !
Just pure laziness, and it happened a few times during the match.
Needs dropping, he was just a passenger and offered nothing.

I thought that was a pen at first but less sure from the replays. Probably wasn’t.

In the commentary it says the keeper touched it onto the bar, Billy heads the ball after that and scores. How can he be offside from a "pass" from an opposition player?
-
Not laziness just lack of pace to catch him, he was the one who should have 'took one for the team" but couldn't get close enough

no it’s always been like that

it’s not a pass Billy was in a offside position when the free kick was hit meaning any touch from him whether it’s before the keeper saves it or after he becomes active and there fore it’s offside, that’s always been the law
-
Looked a blatent pen down the left side from where I was sitting.
I also cannot believe Kyle missed that sitter when Billy played it back to him. It was a shocker.
Should have won that game, even though not at our best.

We were by far the better team against a pretty solid L2 team. On another day we we win that game.
-
Thought Crewe were solid and a lot quicker than us for most of the game apart from maybe last 15/20 mins, even thought they were better then in the playoff game, looked good on the ball and passed it quicker and sharper and usually we do perform better against teams that want to play,we probably created the best chances though in sharp and bursts misses could of win it but overall a draw was a fair result
-
Anyone think Gibson’s free kick crossed the line - just seen that Grant and the analysts (rubbish name for a band) thought it was in

No that is just as bad as Crewe fans thinking it was a penalty by the challenge from TSL
-
Have to admit I thought we had some form of goal line technology at our level. It was a decent save from their keeper
-

We do but it is pretty basic and doesn't work properly half the time.
It is referred to as "The referees assistant" or as us oldies call them "Linos"

I thought that the west stand Lino was poor. He got at least two offsides wrong and missed one or two blatant fouls at close range.
As far as the ball going over the line from Gobson’s free kick goes it wasn’t over the line. I sit almost directly in line and think even an inch lower it would have gone in.
-
The lino made one mistake, in our favour. The passes up to Moly behind the line were a fraction too late, and he was offside almost every time.
I was almost level with the penalty spot..

you say he got 2 offsides wrong yet you say you sit inline with the goalline, that’s nearly as bad as fans calling out that players are onside or off from the south stand, haven’t a clue just guessing or for rose tinted glasses on

think broadbent is another scapegoat like sterry is,thought he was ok myself yesterday and my man of match at Grimsby, yes partly to blame for the goal yesterday as could of easily stopped the player getting close to the box and took a booking but McGrath sold himself by sliding in when he was going straight towards olowu then that left a massive gap to run into.

Yes, have to agree. The only player in a position to tackle or take out their player was Bailey. I didn't realise McGrath had been done like a kipper until I watched the replay.
Broadbent did his job very well yesterday and he was second in my mom behind McGrath and before Olowu.
-
Broadbent was alongside their guy and never put his foot in once! That was a mistake from him, but he did ok rest of match.

Agree with that, he should have taken him out way before he got to box and took a yellow card

I'm just curious why you're not saying the same of Bailey, who was in a better position to take him out?

One of those two should have taken a yellow for the team - said it live even before the lad got his shot away. I think McGrath misjudged a block anticipating a shot too early.
For our goal, I think Moly's pass took a fortunate deflection off their no 2, straight to Hurst's feet. Not complaining though!
Can't believe Billy's miss however, but he's only human isn't he?
-
Bailey was nowhere near their guy at the start of the move and if he’d tackled him from behind, he could well have been red carded! Broadbent was in a better place to put the tackle in, or grab hold of him (for a yellow card) and he did neither. That was poor from him and, imho, why he’s not starting games regularly - lack of aggression.
-
That's a cracking ball from Sbarra to send Molly away for the goal
-
Many bemoaning Billy's miss, which I believe the keeper got a slight touch, raising the ball just enough to make his contact on the ball a fraction too low, hence it goes over the bar,but what about Hurst's up and under conversion after Billy set's him up with a pass from an akward position,he should atleast got it on target, but hey, thats alright because Hurst scored a brilliant goal earlier? think we are too critical at times.
-

Not until they scored their goal & Grant put on nearly every attacking option we had on the bench did the team look anywhere near galvanised enough to get anything out of that game.
First half we weren’t anywhere near in my opinion.
Either we were poor or Crewe were the best visitors we’ve played at home thus far in the season.
Yes we could have won it once the equaliser came but I walked away relieved with a point after the game.
-
I thought in the first half Crewe were very well organised, quick passing albeit without much threat. They certainly got back into shape very quickly when we had possession. I was thinking we would need a set piece to make a breakthrough, and that free kick was so close to doing that.
At least their defender took our player out just before he surged into the box..!
