It looks as there are as many bulbs out than there is on nowadays. The one in the south west corner definitely has more out than on, is there any chance we may get some new bulbs in the near future?

I’m sure they do it on purpose, got a mad electric bill.
-
Sure it was on here before that they don’t need them all on to produce the required amount of light

That's true although I don't know how many we can lose before it becomes a problem.
Some bulbs were replaced a couple of years ago so you wonder what guarantee comes with them but they're not cheap!
Maybe we should use some of the FA Cup prize money, win or lose, towards replacements?
-
Do you guys have trouble seeing at night matches like?

id noticed that not always is it the same light that on or off … It could be to preserve the usage and life of the bulbs by alternating their use ! LED,s would be better as they are brighter and use less power over all .
-
If I recall correctly, the club upgraded the bulbs prior to an England match at the ground about a year ago.Not all are needed on.
Average cost for a game with lights on for the full duration is now AT LEAST £750.
-
LEDs are surely cheaper to run
-
Everything on the field and the training ground is fine. Let’s worry about something else - bulbs in floodlights!
Pretty sure it’s by design that they are all not on at the same time. There’s more than we need so we have resilience, so when some start to pop, we have a lead time before we have to replace them.
Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring.
-
Pretty sure the EFL will have the same system as the EPL where they carry out a lux test to measure the lighting output at the start of the season. There is a certain level it has to be. The lighting level at night games certainly isn’t as bright as it it at other grounds I’ve been to but it’s obviously sufficient.

Ive noticed and commented for last few seasons and it was particularly noticeable against Barrow. My eyesight isnt as good as it should be so I certainly struggled to identify players at distance.
Interestingly(?) the replays on the screen (& later on tv) seem perfect
I certainly wish they would get them up to full complement!!!
-
Whilst I accept we don't need them all working to produce the required amount of light, it does however look shit, and a bit amateurish.
Same goes for the tannoy, which is an embarrassment

Cameras tested more regularly than your eyes ?? Lol

The tannoy is being looked at today/tomorrow to see what improvements can be made.

What about the floodlights?

Don't kits look better under floodlights though, I've bought a few tops after a night game.
-
Do the solar panels on roof of the south stand actually work?

Some of the Ref's and Linesmen do!
-
Thought we had solar panels to provide the lecy.
-
Solar panels need a very large storage for the power needed for Stadium. remember its not just floodlights. Prseumably the storage at DRFC is not large enough to cope with demand.

If we go back to the initial post, how many are out and are we ever going to get some or all replaced?

Here's some reading for those with the time, it should answer most if not all questions.

OK, this is a topic that crops up now and again so I’m going to quote the same answer as on previous occasions.
The floodlights are part of a planned maintenance regime and losing a few does not impact on the light levels. There is a standard that has to be met to reach EFL and TV standards and that is monitored.
The process is quite comprehensive in having to lower and replace individual lamps so it makes economic sense to wait until theres a reasonable amount of work to do.
-
Right, so we've done the lights. Is anyone going to raise the fact that some white lines are slightly off-white and therefore may not conform to some god-forsaken ISO/BS standard?
Or that some grass verges might need a little seed?
Also, pretty sure I spotted a couple of weeds that need spraying.
It's a good job the Club has all of us to keep them aware of these things eh??

As much as I don’t like them is it viable to have the electronic advertising boards or are they not cost effective (just wondering if it would generate more money)

Roversdude
Funnily enough it’s a conversation we ( Shadow board) are having with the club as an ongoing issue.
The planned floodlight check as mentioned by Martin, is due next month.

Thanks LR

Regarding the floodlights, I do have inside knowledge all be it from about ten years ago and therefore could be out of date.
I remember being told that the LUX levels that we have in our floodlights would be sufficient even if we were only running them at 50% capacity. It would still be better than many grounds up and down the country.
The bulbs are expensive and it isn't viable to get a new bulb every time one goes. As for an LED alternative, if someone has a quarter of a million quid in their back pocket to give the club, I'm sure they would love to do it as the running cost would be a lot cheaper but again the initial outlay would be massive.
As Martin has said the logistics of lowering the lights to change bulbs means it isn't practical to do often if it is not absolutely necessary.
On the solar panels, much like domestic ones they can only generate so much. The annual electricity bill for the stadium would make your eyes water. To take anything from that is a help, but you'd need a massive wind farm to be able to produce that much. Imagine on a match day having 50 (guess) ovens on at a high temperature for five hours at a time. It isn't cheap.

Drove away from the stadium last night after going to the gym and couldn’t help but think how good it would look lit up with LED lights around the outside of the roof, I know it’s been mentioned before and would be costly but just my personal pov

For anyone with bottomless pockets. This was nine years ago, I presume many others will have it now.

I pitched the idea to the club on at least 2 occasions, but the sheer cost has always proved prohibitive. We did make some changes though to reflect the DRFC heritage and choice of colour.
If memory serves me correct I also suggested that the big screen should be on the outside of the stadium, much like the one at Derby, so we could run adverts and promote the Rovers 24 hours a day.
-
Appreciate the costs but the external advertising is a cracking idea
-
Sponsorship at L2 level is usually limited to.local companies who's owners are supporters of the club and are proud to have a banner there or a box etc. I would put 50quid on it that not one commercial supporter of this club gets its fee back in gained work. A flash tele will make zero difference.
The lights are providing the required lux levels, why do we need to spend money on more?
