I noticed he put his fingers into his ears when celebrating yesterday.
Now he’s just posted a picture of it and wrote “block out the noise”
Has he been getting stick? Can’t say Iv seen any this season.

Jude Bellingham has been “silencing the critics” and “showing them very one who said he wouldn’t amount to anything” for the last year and a half which appears to be almost entirely in his head, but as long as it’s a means to a positive end result it’s fine by me.

To be honest I think it's more about how good the Donny away support is.
GM made a point of saying they could be heard before the lads walked out onto the pitch.

Don’t read too much into this.
After I once reached for my crotch after scoring a last minute winning goal in a trial game my mate who was playing alongside me said “That’s brill, telling their lot to bollox!”.
When he blew the whistle to end the game seconds after the goal as we walked off the pitch the referee suddenly came alongside me & said “Nice goal son, cut out the unnecessary gestures though eh?”.
My girlfriend at the time who was watching on the sidelines said “Why did you do that, was it for me?”.
In the dressing room after we’d showered one of the coaching staff approached me & said “If we ever see you do that again in a match you’ll be looking for trials elsewhere”.
When I eventually got home my mum said “How did you get on son?”, I replied “Okay mum, but can you stop putting starch in with my football shorts”.

It wasn’t overboard, but his crossing and general decision making against Bromley was poor. Needs to learn to take the rough with the smooth. He’d get much more attention for his performances if he was a couple of divisions higher, that’s for sure.

You could be right here. I was watching on Rovers+, and when Moly scored it seemed like an explosion of sound, somehow very different to what I’ve heard for other goals. I remember thinking at the time, what a sound that was.

But actually you've got to remember these are guys in their twenties who have grown up with social media and a society that creates the need for that kind of recognition.

Unfortunately it appears (as you allude to) that ‘lower league players’ are ‘copying’ the higher profile international players that, like us, they see on the telly doing these ‘gestures’. Why, because thanks to social media they suddenly think their every move is being watched by millions, not a few thousand but millions! Pathetic.
Jude Bellingham was ‘jumped’ on by the authorities in the last World Cup for grabbing his knackers (less starch mum) after scoring for England. Allegedly it was ‘meant for his mates’.!!! Don’t bloody do it!
Arm up in salute as you run past your supporter's after scoring as Alan Shearer did. It became his trade mark. Simple, effective then get on with the game.
I blame (apart from social media & players believing their own hype) the player we first saw doing multiple backward somersaults after scoring a goal. You know who you are. Pillock.

Me too. It was absolutely deafening. I think a lot of it was relief, because we'd missed so many easy chances that it was looking like we'd never score, and they'd have just the one chance on Andy Cook's head and win the game 1-0.
Well, the Cook bit was true; thank God we got the 2 goals to render it meaningless. It would have been an injustice if we hadn't won that. We were superior in every department.

For being league 2 footballers is crazy! I think people fail to realise how good a player you need to be to play at north east counties level, never mind conference north, never mind league 2.

For being league 2 footballers is crazy! I think people fail to realise how good a player you need to be to play at north east counties level, never mind conference north, never mind league 2.
Gaz once said league 2 players should be embarrassed to call themselves professionals (or something similar) so it’s not the first time.
It’s a really strange way to view things, unless he’s just on the wind up.
I do agree with him on this one though. If Luke has posted this because on one fans comment then it’s a little bit odd. He’s loved here.

You obviously have to have a decent level of ability to play L2 football but most of these lads are a lot closer to being amateur players than top players. I just think sometimes players at this level get a bit above themselves.
I know most are just humble lads enjoying a game of football but some really overrate themselves and their ability.

Seeing as though you’ve made this point on this topic, I’m going to assume you include Luke Molyneux in that bracket? If so that is just a ridiculous take.
Luke came through at what was a premier league academy at the time. A few of our players did, but I don’t think any played amateur level at that stage of their career?
Put Luke Molyneux in your pub team and they’d feel like they were up against a world class footballer by comparison.

I don't think thst is implied anywhere by Gaz. Your take on what he said, NC, is quite an overreaction. Gaz does not generalise to include every L2 player. Nor is there any basis whatever for "assuming" that Gaz believes Luke Molyneux to be amateur level or have played at an amateur level. What Gaz does suggest is that "sometimes" L2 players act above their station in the football hierarchy.

There's a bit more to it than even this.
50 years ago, the English football league was comprised pretty much exclusively of players from the British Isles.
If you assume that each club had a squad of 22-25 then there's roughly 500 players in each division. Then in very broad terms, the top 500 British players were in the first division and the 4th division had the 1500th-2000th best British players.
These days, the composition of squads is much more globalised, because the money in our game has brought in so much overseas talent.
Roughly half of PL players are from the British Isles today. They are the best 1-250. About 65% of Championship players (251-575) and 75% of L1 players (576-950) similarly. Even if every single L2 player was from Britain and Ireland, they would make up the 951-1450th best "British" players.
In other words, most "British" players ply their trade about a division lower than they would have down had they been at a similar place in the rankings of "British" players half a century ago.
Of course, these ranking are simplistic. The very best L2 players today (such as Molyneux) could almost certainly ply their trade at the top end of L1, bottom of Championship. Which means that the best British L2 players today would have been able to cut it at the top end of Div 2/bottom of Div 1 50 years ago.
And you can see it with your own eyes every week. Aside from the fact that tactics and training and fitness get better year on year, the quality of what we are watching in Tier 4 today is light years ahead of what I used to watch at the same level as a kid in the 70s.

I used to use this kind of analogy to point out how shallow the talent pool is for England these days. Realistically, the majority of the England squad will be made up of players from the teams in the top half of the Premier League, and your first XI from those playing at the best teams and regularly in Europe. We're now giving those limited number of places to develop players from all over the world. 40-50 years ago, prime DRFC era Billy Sharp would have been in consideration for the England squad, and its only the influx of foreigners that limited his development amongst the elite. Without the influx he would likely have played his whole career at that level rather than just a couple of seasons up there with the Blades later on in his career.

You’ve got to be a top top player to get anywhere near league 2.
Most of the players playing for Man City, Liverpool etc under 16s, 17s. So the best of the best at that age group won’t end up playing at a level as good as league 2!

He is certainly loved here by most of us. The problem is that the negative gets amplified on social media, and the players, being young lads will often feel the need to respond to that. Maybe being able to keep that in perspective is a modern era, mental resilience requirement that the very highest level players are able to achieve, but ones further down struggle with?

He's been great for us over the last 18 months to be fair and bar the very odd average game he's been excellent. People piling into him on twitter etc should just be ignored. He's a young lad and he will quickly realise that the opinions of some fat 50 year old from Doncaster who was never good enough berating him about his crossing technique is not worth the time to even read.

One person. This person looks like he's involved in kids football too which is worrying. And not because of any weird shit before one of yous jumps on me.
I saw blokes like this with a warped view of football "coaching" 6 and 7 year old screaming at them to "get rid of it" and "don't do that there, if in doubt kick it out".
These guys would burst a blood vessel if their u7s had lost but the week after walk around like Jurgen Klopp if they'd won.
These guys probably got as far as division 7 in Sunday pub football and have zero knowledge about football.

I think that comments on lower league players are amplified more because they are in a smaller pool and get their attention more. If you are a Championship/Premiership player the sheer quantity of comments means that you wouldn't have the time - or the energy to read them or be concerned. They are young lads and need to be a bit savvy about the comments made - it's an easy thing to say, but answer them on the pitch...
