Just thought I would start this as we are just over two weeks to the big kick off
Tickets left
South stand - 386
East stand - 1405
West stand - 1216
Obviously we can open more sections but looking good so far
-
It’s ok, but no better. Probably equates to less than 6800 sold so far
-
Would be good to know what our official capacity is nowadays.
-

What I was more interested in seeing was that less than 400 in the south stand, so anyone wanting to wait for the day could be in for a shock that it is already sold out.
Could really do with drfc twitter and Facebook to start banging the drum and get it sold out.
We all know how incredible the stadium can feel with a full home support in full voice
-
Would be good to know what our official capacity is nowadays.
Last few ‘sell outs’ have been around the 13500-13800 mark, but without sell out away ends. So I would hazard a guess somewhere around 14500 at most

I think the number of seats are 14975. Of course, we wouldn't be able to sell that many for a football match due to segregation and pinch points.
I think the club, the safety officers, the fans groups do a good job in managing the numbers, releasing blocks which can be dependant on the take up of the opposition fans and the blocks allocated to them.
There is no exact number as it will depend on a number of factors and decisions made as demand for seats increase nearer to kick off.
The Bradford game last season shows how easily things can kick off, so I think the decision to limit their numbers with wider segregation areas was fully justified. It felt and sounded like a full house and turned out to be a great result and occasion so, whether there was 13500 or 14500 in attendance isn't really the biggest consideration.
It would be great if we could get to a point where we can confidently limit away fans to 2000 ish to accommodate increased numbers of home fans.
Edit. For benchmarks.
First home match v Accrington last season. 6,423
First home match League One (2017) following promotion from League Two v Gillingham 7,512
I think the away followings won't be too much different, so will we do better than 7512?

Expecting 8000 personally

Big dinner party. Best of luck.

I agree with most of Baz’s post above but out of interest….
We are almost certain to have multiple games this season where we will be capable of selling the entire away end (north stand). Given what happened with the Bradford fixture is there a suggestion that we might limit away allocations again?
Will lose a lot of revenue if we do.

It's a good question. The Bradford game was the penultimate game with alot at stake. Had it been mid season and more of a 'routine' game, then we probs would have given them more...but there probably would have been less home fans??
An added complication is clubs have to agree allocations months in advance. If clubs buy min away allocations, then ask for more, I don't think they get refunds for the unsold tickets anymore. So, clubs will probably be conservative with the numbers they request.

Expecting 8000 personally
Bearing in mind there will be quite a few people on holiday and the cricket season hasn't finished yet 8k would be a good crowd.

Quick update
South stand - 329

West stand - 1191
Hopefully see the south stand sell out for our first game back in league one
-
Not even thought about getting tickets yet but will be 4 or 5 of us going.

Quick update
South stand - 329
East stand - 1344
West stand - 1191

2 days later now
South Stand - 289
East Stand - 1326
West Stand - 1187
So not movement East and West but now under 300 for the south.
With 2 weeks to go think it’s great
-
If those numbers are correct and all sth’s attend, we’ll be looking at crowd of between 8 and 9,000? I’m assuming there will not be many making the treck from Devon.
-
Remember that not all sections in the east and west are open but my guess for now is 8,200 which would be great as can only see Exeter bringing 200/300
-
South stand now at 244
East stand 1295
West stand 1167
Let’s sell out the south
-
Good to see the central block of the West has sold out already.
-
Ok three days since my last update and the South has less than 200 tickets left.
South stand - 188
East Stand - 1243
West Stand - 1115
Carry on like this and the South should be sold out in the next 4 days.
Good result against Blackpool in our last friendly should see it sold out for Exeter.
Really surprised that the club haven’t been trying to push it now it’s dropped under 200 tickets left (in the south stand). Just a simple don’t miss out email and post across social media.
-
I wonder if some of last season’s South Stand regulars will miss out this season if we go on a good run. Those that buy their tickets on the day could possibly not have that option. Not everyone can afford a season ticket and if you live a distance away can’t drop in and get one midweek. I know there is the option to buy online or on the phone if you aren’t sure that you can get to a game until the day you might have to move to the East or West stand.
-
Anyone else receive the e mail asking for the attached poster for the Exeter game to be printed and displayed?

Ah, that's where I saw it. Must admit, I didn't fully read the email.

Exeter are better followed than you think, I'd expect 600.
-
Will the big banner be making an appearance in the south stand?
-
Quite a unique game, as it’s only the 3rd time Rovers have played Exeter in 27 years in a league match.
-
That made me laugh RiS. I get your point of course and it is something of interest, but having played Exeter 3 times in 27 years, it can hardly be called unique can it?! Rare certainly. Unique? No.
Cheers!

South stand - 95

I heard a similar estimate yesterday which would be a surprisingly encouraging turnout (yes, a few ST holders will be missing but still be counted). If 9000 is achieved, it will be the best opening home attendance since our Championship days.
-
14:42 Sunday update ok getting ready for the final countdown now
south stand 34 tickets left
-
South stand sold out fantastic effort everyone
Now let’s sell out the west and east

It is a great effort but need to remember lots of ST holders will be away plus the cut in non reserved seating.
Still brilliant though and I can't wait.

Exeter fans saying they have sold 480

Good numbers so far from Exeter. I predict they will fetch 700-800.
Amazing the south stand is sold out with almost a week to go. How times are changing for the Rovers and the club Doncaster brand. Wonderful to see.

I know this might be a stupid question but does the club leave so many seats available in the South Stand to sell on the day or nigh. Therefore has all seats been sold to STH or supporters buying them

Due to unreserved seating I believe the whole stand can’t be sold. Once it’s stated sold out no more tickets will be sold on the day though.
-
It is looking good, last season the black bank only sold out 3/4 days before games.
To do so earlier is good

I think with the likely pressure on seats for the South Stand, it might be prudent if the club and fan groups remind folk of the ability to re sell seats. (If I'm absent it wouldn't bother me, they could have it for nowt, so it's a bonus to get any credit)
I wonder if it's worth creating a separate email for South Standers to report their absences, so the spaces can be te used and publicise it more frequently.
-
Think it’s a great idea for the club to email south standers about reselling if they can’t make it. Benefits everyone- club, st holder and person buying the available seat. Also advertises right at the start of the season that this can be done. Most season ticket holders are unaware I reckon.

1:10 Monday update
East Stand - 1065
West Stand - 959
Numbers looking good

Just bought mine, so that's another one less in the west stand.

Exeter fan here. Considering anything under three hours away is seen as a local derby for us we should still have anywhere between 600-750 fans coming to you on Sat. All the best
-

Maybe something that can also be included in the pre match 'all you need to know' email that goes out, and be includes each time?
Might also be worthwhile for the Shadow Board & Black Bank to look at other ways of maximising the seats available in the South without compromising safety and comfort, whilst keeping it unreserved. Perhaps another area is finding a way to use more of the restricted seats in front of the scoreboard as an overflow.
Yes, of course there's generally plenty of seats elsewhere but naturally people will be drawn to where the most atmosphere is generated.
-
Would anyone know the full capacity of the South stand and also how many seats are not sold due to the unreserved seating precautions?

I believe it’s something in the region of 10%

Couldn’t agree more with all of this. Feel the club should be proactive about maximising ticket availability and that now is the time. Start as we mean to go on.
-
Just generally about the South Stand , I think we need to observe and see how things evolve this season before we change much. We know how quickly things can change in football so the ebb and flow of ticket demand will always happen.
For example, if folk can't get tickets in the South, what location as they choosing as an alternative? Are they picking the next available block in East or West? How many are we talking about and how often will it happen? Does it really matter to them? Is it detracting from their matchday experience?
If it's something that's going to happen regularly, then we may need to gather alot more feedback to understand the size of the problem if there is one. For example, we could say expand the South Stand on both sides by another block...but then we have to consider access to concourses and exits, how many reserved ST holders would be affected in those expanded areas? Lots of things to consider.
-
The south stand is a really great place to watch the game from.
Lots of friends to see every week and loads to talk about.
Best of all, on a good day there is a fantastic atmosphere.
It isn’t surprising that tickets are selling out.
-
I’ll second that, hound. I enjoyed last season, overall, with maybe one or two downers through the season. Looking forward to this one despite the threat of us having some tough games, potentially.
-
East and west have much better views. It's a shame we had to build the ground like we did and have 20 yards between the pitch to front row
-

I wonder if the space from pitch to stands is something to do with the level of certification the stadium possesses?

I think long term we should look at the rail safe standing for the south this should allow to sell to the capacity. I have no idea what the costs are involved in this though but the way they are built now with the option to ‘unlock’ the seat part for certain events etc. nowt worse then nearly going flying over the knee high seat in front when a goal goes in
-
I think GB said in his recent interview that safe standing isn’t on the agenda yet, Money being spent on the training ground etc instead.
-

A couple of factors. The try scoring area known as the in goal area and then a safe run off for the rugby players makes the case for the large area behind the goals.
But also, it wouldn't be so bad if we had a full sized football pitch. Ours is 100 meters long, where a full size pitch is 105 meters. Adding 2.5 at each end would mean the goal line would be just beyond the current back of the net. Might this change one day, I hope so.....there is scope for it to happen.

Quite right. But, it's going to be the best attended first Home game for a long time, considering holiday season and the races being on too. Good Times to bring on The Champions!

I’d hazard a guess we’ve sold in the region of 8k in the home end so far. Probably sell at least another 500 before Saturday and then walk ups on top. Could be talking a home gate in excess of 9k
-
There will be lots away on holiday still so a home attendance of 8000 would be exceptionally good .
-
I think GB said in his recent interview that safe standing isn’t on the agenda yet, Money being spent on the training ground etc instead.
Yeah probably not high up on the agenda. From what I’ve seen Celtic converted just under 3000 seats to the rail style for 500k and city did 7000 for 500k also so wouldn’t be cheap by any stretch looking at those numbers

My rough calc, including Exeters @600 puts us around 8610. Ish.
Deffo above what I estimated earlier in the thread.
Edit: if we beat 9002 v Blackpool 2013/14 (Championshi), it will be the highest opening home attendance since 2011/12 of 11344 v West Ham United !!
-
I thought about 8000 doing well, obviously some will be away on holiday so won't be the same number be should still be rocking

I reckon we’ve already surpassed it in terms of home fans. Never really read too much into what away fans bring, but I bet Blackpool would have brought 1000 minimum that day. So we’ve already bettered the home support with 2 days to go

We should reignite the old east vs west stand debates. Prawn sarnies vs west stand curmudgeons who've had the same seat since the keepmoat opened.
-
Thanks CBCB just started out to try and get the south sold out and to bring attention to the fact that those who are used to just rocking up on the day that they may miss out if they wait.
Currently on holiday so in future I'll probably carry it on with the big games but just do it at say 8 o'clock each night the week before the game

It's easy to get drawn in because It's a marker to see how much we've moved on. Plenty of talk about ST sales but we don't know for sure how that materialises into actual attendances. The game tomorrow is the first test of that which then of course, opens up further questions about future potential. It's a good place to be and we all know too well, we have to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
-
I know of 3 ST holders not going tomorrow through weddings and work, all let the club know do their seats could be sold. I fully expect the attendance to be up on L2 but I’m not expecting it to be that much greater, I hope I’m wrong and we hit 5 figures.

Yes, there will be quite a few missing but guessing most will still be counted.
-
Off to cinema in a bit to try and take my mind off it for a bit I'm sure when I get back I'll be doing a late night count

Just seeing what the Black Bank have lined up, it's going to be a colourful specatacle as the players come out.
They've done really well to grow the brand, generate interest and excitement.

You carry on dk, I always tap on this topic first, love the positivity and I’ve always thought that attendances are a very important part of supporting a club and a measure of success too.

Hope there is one left for me after the game.

8688 today. Decent gate but well clear of 10,000.
-
Didn't look like there was 6000 empty seats to me
-
If anything there were probably fewer people in the ground than 8688 as they still I think count all the season ticket holders whether there or not, and there must be a decent number of season ticket holders sat on the beach in Spain or Greece this weekend.

Short of what I thought but it looked more than 8688 to me but, like the three points, it's a good start and pleasing to see folk moving pretty quickly through the turnstiles.

Caveat. We were absolutely terrible so gates had dropped but the very last home game we played in League One was the 2-0 win against Burton Albion on 23 April 2022. Gate that day was 6034 so we have put on well in excess of 2500 supporters since then. I doubt on that day Burton would have brought that much different from Exeter did today so the difference is likely mainly our support. Gate today was getting on for 50pc higher than our last League One gate.
-
Every match was live on sky today too. However in the age of firesticks I'm not too sure that matters.
I'd say if the 2 didn't exist we'd have anither 2k on the gate every week
-
I think it was a tad disappointing - the east stand looked largely empty, especially the corporate middle which was odd given the boxes looked full. Still not sold on the unreserved south stand stuff. It looks 3/4 full but is sold out. It’s an odd concept

League One gates this weekend. We are second lowest, above Burton Albion. Wouldn't need that many more and we get into the realm of 9-10k and sit with the sides who have similar-ish resources to us eg Rotherham, Lincoln. Noticeable pretty much all the big sides in this division were at home which will have skewed the figures. Does show some work to do though. Clearly our gates will rocket when we play any of our many local derby games.
Cardiff - 19615
Blackpool - 10900
Bradford - 19604
Burton - 5170
Rovers - 8688
Huddersfield - 17062
Lincoln - 9054
Luton - 11735
Plymouth - 16483
Rotherham - 9883
Wigan - 9471

This is Burton’s 11th consecutive season at League One or higher. Doing a great job of punching above their weight.

Much more away support at some of those of course (eg Rotherham), but league one is a well attended division these days as some of those clubs have clearly grown (Lincoln, Luton for example).
-
Burton is one of the better run clubs at this level but 23/24 lost around £1.5m a year. Generally they can get close to break even though, largely as their wage bill is likely smallest at that level, around £5m.

Training at St George's park is a big benefit to them too.

To be fair, rotherham will have been boosted by a sizeable away following - I imagine port vale would have brought in the region of 2000. So in theory, their home gate was less than ours
-
This is all based on last season figures and from a sample of one this season, but as a vague guide our gate yesterday of 8688 if ending up as our home season average, would have had us exactly half way in League One last season for average gates over course of that season, sitting beneath Lincoln City (9004) and Bristol Rovers (7880).

That’s true. 2052 Port Vale fans there yesterday. Although looking at last season, Rotherham United average home attendance was 9360 so it’s pretty much par for them.

That’s cause for concern for them then. The average away gate last season would probably have been no more than 1000 at best. It means they are down around 1000 supporters on last season

In Rotherhams 9883 there were 2100 Port Vale fans so home support was 7783.
At Lincoln there were @ 1300 Reading fans so home support @ 7700
There were @ 600 Exeter fans in our 8688.
The numbers are very similar for the home support.
Just to remind people why I think we're always going to see empty seats in the South stand is due to three reasons.
1. Reduced capacity to allow for the flexibility and benefits of unreserved seating.
2. Season members who don't turn up on the day.
3. More condensed congregation of fans in the upper central areas where the numbers standing are likely to more than seats.

It won't be long before we lock horns again with Rotherham, so while we're on this subject, what do you think the club's approach will be?
1. Limit the number of tickets to Rotherham fans to around 2,200 as with last seasons Bradford game?
Or
2. Give them 3000 plus with a view to 'selling out' the stadium?
I thought it was interesting hearing Gavin recently when he said, they involved McCann in the discussions on limiting Bradfords numbers in order to maximise 'home advantage' in the knowledge we'd lose out on approx £40k worth of ticket sales. Of course, there was the safety angle too, reducing the risk of things kicking off (obvs a small number of Bradford fans did on the day)
This game won't be as pivotal as that one but still has potential for flash points, so what do you think the club should do? (Although I guess Rotherhams allocation may have already been decided)
-
Ref the Rotherham game what ever the maximum that they can give us we should cap it at that for us I do expect it to be down as it’s on tv and early kick off and some will stay away just with the fact of could be trouble
-
We will give Rotherham 3.3k. unlikely also we sell 11k home tickets so early in the season as well
