Hells Bells! I thought we’d seen the last of him. Nailed on to score.

Always has a good game against us. The 21st century Trevor Senior or Phil Stant.

9 goals in 20 appearances against us and has won 11 of those games, including the last 4 in a row.

BUT he’s never scored against us in the cup*. Long may that continue.

(*sample size all of 2 games).

There’s a whole host of possibilities Bob but I do remember that Blackpool had a lanky striker in the early 80’s who always tore us apart.

There's far too many possibles Herbert....That bloody Barnsley winger; Tracey Austin, that midfield oik at Bradford. And a lot more

Tracey Austin!!! Rips us apart everytime he played against us and the moment we sign him hes utter crap. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more disinterested player in a Rovers shirt before or since! The worst piece of business Bremner ever did.

I remember Dave Bamber and Andy Garner tearing us apart, late eighties/early nineties.

He's had a great career. I remember being desperate for us to sign him when he was transfer listed at Yeovil. Ended up at Scunny.

Phil Stant seemed to play us twice a season at Belle Vue, always got a transfer mid season and rock up at Doncaster the following Saturday. I know it’s poetic licence , but that’s how it seemed.

Another that always seemed to score against us and then signed for us was Les Chappell. I seem to remember he did an OK job for us but scored nothing like the number of goals he did for Reading (just checked wiki 78 league goals from 201 apps for Reading and only 10 from 58 apps for us)

Stan Anderson generally played him in midfield though, Dutch. Brendan, Kitch and Miller were always the preferred choice up front.

I'll see your Tracey Austin and raise you a Kevin Hume. Absolutely terrorised us when at Bury.

We could have signed Senior for £100k back in the day but the money wasn’t there.

I actually liked what I saw of Les Chappell (which wasn't that much - I was living abroad at the time so didn't see too many matches). He went to Swansea afterwards where I have close family - he was well liked and still fondly remembered there, mostly for his post playing coaching years and twice being caretaker manager.

Can anyone confirm, always remember Chris Tate scoring against us numerous times?

Here’s an interview he did down at Plainmoor a few years ago.

Seem to remember him scoring against us for Scarborough and Halifax. Played for Orient as well when we won down there on our return to the FL but didn’t score that day.

Thanks for that Surrey, very interesting. I do hope Torquay can finally make progress after being pipped by Truro last season

Seem to remember we tried to sign him as well at one point.

Remember him eventually scoring for us after hitting the woodwork so many times
