One of those heard from a friend about an update announcing later regarding naming rights, makes sense with eco power purchasing kingswood golf course.
-
"Club Doncaster Sports Village"
Not very catchy.
-
Club Doncaster stadium surely
-
Most people will still call it the Keepmoat

Who's Terry Bramhall?
-
Could have been called worse….im naive to the financial loss of
No naming rights but maybe it’s alll accounted for going forward, who knows future expansion where the hill is, smaller stadium for the bells and rugby? Indoor arena…
-
Doesn't sound great in my opinion. Not too arsed though!
-
New stadia often have rubbish names. I get the intent behind this choice, but it is an especially sterile, characterless, mouthful of a name.

No one wanted their name in lights or to associated with us .. that’s so sad when your think we’re invested in around the pitch digital advertising. What does this say about our appeal locally .
-
Was supposed to be the Doncaster Independent Community Keepmoat Stadium.
-
Who sponsors the stadium then?
-
Think it’s brilliant me and I really hope we go highly ambitious with it. The potential is there has proven by all the recent events the club have put on.
I’d love to see us do more in terms of music especially. We have 2 hugely popular singers who are both interested in putting on music festivals and identifying talent to sign up. Where better than here? They’ll pull names and numbers in, get them involved. Just not in the way we wanted to previously
- There is zero chance we have given up sponsorship money without a longer term financial plan in place. If we prove the concept works as a “village” then we’ll receive much more lucrative offers for partner rights down the line. If they took an offer now, it’ll limit what the deal that follows can bring in as companies would use it as a benchmark.
- Having the stadium (village) hold more and bigger events will make the club as a whole much more attractive to a good buyer, as will a vast improvement in its earning potential. Absolute no brainer.
- Just a good thing for the city as a whole, more events for us to enjoy and development of land that isn’t just copycat houses for a change.
I can see the vision.
-
Exactly most people only see what’s in front of them, no vision, old
School negative mentality, love to moan about anything, boo players and then cry when they want to leave.
-
It's no Earth Stadium but it'll grow on me.
-
Looked down the list of things I give a shit about and this definitely isn't on there.
Only question is why we are foregoing revenue from selling the naming rights. Will be decent if not massive sum.
-

We’re not forgoing sponsorship money. There’ll still be room for them.
But the plan is to grow the Club Doncaster brand so that will be a constant going forward.
-
Slightly off topic, but with the impending closure of The Cheswold and Beefeater pubs, is there a scope for a larger bar, or a second one at the stadium?

Interested to know how you know this, or is it just your opinion dressed up as fact?

They are not necessarily closing them ,they are looking to sell off the pub buildings and rent them back releasing capital to invest in the business, some will be turned into extra rooms, the new idea will be like the holiday inn express so it's all under one roof
-
DSA Stadium perhaps?

Actually that's the wrong way to think about it. Think you're a business why would you sponsor a stadium name? Exposure. Why do you need exposure? Probably because your brand isn't strong, you're growing or looking to divest (eco power).
To rovers the stadium name isn't worth much in financial terms. I've worked for numerous businesses involved in sports sponsorship at the lower leagues and whilst it isn't that expensive the benefits are tiny, there's way better ways to advertise.
Most sponsors are fans or friends of owners or often the actual owners and that's why they do it.
I'm intrigued as to what the future plans are, there's potential in that site for sure, I wonder if they'd like the freehold of the whole site at some point aswell as a lease.
-
El Stadio Black Bank
-
Just wrote this on twitter.
I would have like to have seen this as a rebrand.
1, because some of our fans are right irritating Kitsons and two, same colours init.
-
Unless anyone with more detailed knowledge can say otherwise, I think the number of sponsors have increased in recent times, which is very positive. I'd certainly rather see more and more local businesses get involved with Rovers/Club Doncaster for obvious reasons.
IF there comes a time when we find ourselves being courted by a national or international name who want to lavish big money on us, who have no association with the city, then we'll have to rethink.
-
I see this as a brilliant idea to help attract the successor to Terry Bramall and have them espouse not only a football club but Club Doncaster and its strategy of providing sporting, health, and leisure activities to the community . Not many EFL clubs can offer that.
-
El Stadio Black Bank
Why not save money on the lettering by simply calling it The BB Stadium?
-

This is probably where Burton (with Pirelli) have dropped on. All the others are horrid - from ToughSheet to Brick to Weston Homes, I could go on - at least it's none of those.

Has anyone put thought into what the stadium/area is going to be known as when referred to by media, local and national? Radio Sheffield were calling it "The Village" last night.
Nice catchy, short name to go with yesterday's announcement would've been good.
Maybe someone's going to think about that next?

I like it it’s ours

I think it’s a good thing its obvious Terry Bramall is mapping a blueprint for rovers future and it’s better to have things in place now than when it’s too late.
He’s not got where he’s got with due diligence and a business brain and also does alot for the community so it’s a big thankyou in my eyes he’s put the future instead of a few bob not many clubs would do that especially at our level !!
-
I’m in favour of the principle behind this and it’s a bold move to forego any income from a stadium sponsor.
I’m just not sure about the “Village” bit and would have preferred “Club Doncaster Stadium” but that’s just my opinion.
-
I think the term village draws attention to the fact that the surrounds of the stadium are multi sport friendly and are included in the long term lease .Any prospective buyer benefits not only from the community brand but the fixed assets that enable the delivery of a broader range of community events . I recall the stadium was valued at £20 million and and the surrounding land at a further £15 million .
-
Club Doncaster Sports Stadium or Arena would be more suitable. The Village might grow on me though.
-
I'm interested to see what "developing the physical footprint" will consist of.
-
Bars restaurants etc would generate money and could be used all year round
-

Surely the stadium and the surrounding land still belong legally to Doncaster Council, and leased to Club Doncaster under two separate leases. In which case they would not be fixed assets for the Club itself?

It’s not 2 separate leases, it’s just the one. But it still has another 90 years to run.
The VSC also hold the ACV covering the same area.
-
Willing to bow to Terry's experience on developing and branding properties if I'm honest. If we're looking to grow the profile of the place we have the right man in charge.
-
It doesn’t matter what we all think as the powers that be will do what they want.
Personally, Belle Vue was a name we all related to, was simple and was not renamed every few years like we do now.
I agree with Pancho that “Club Doncaster Stadium” would have been simpler and easier to remember if we have to go down that path. “Lakeside Stadium” would have been my first choice as away fans coming to Doncaster would more likely know the Lakeside area. But that’s just my opinion.
-

"Stadium" isn't a reflection of what is trying to be portrayed is it. Completely bypasses the objective.
-
Speaking personally again, and I know I am out on a limb here, but I am a fan of Doncaster Rovers football fan. The whole Club Doncaster concept means we are losing sight of what matters to some of us (obviously just me) and that is Doncaster Rovers the football club. Football is just being lost amongst rugby, Belles, community, charity and everything else that Club Doncaster represents. There are other football clubs in the country higher up the league tables that don't surround themselves in "The Club" concept.
Speaking personally again, LONG LIVE DONCASTER ROVERS.
-
Personally I think “The Village “ is terrible and it would lead to journalists and other supporters using the term village idiots a lot, but if it brings in money so be it. I’ll just keep referring to it as The Keepmoat or The Rovers

Agree with the fact that I support Rovers not too fussed about the Belles and Dons, however Club Doncaster brings in the money so if it aids Rovers I’m behind it
-
Should have been called the 'Lakeside Stadium'.
I'll still call it the Keepmoat though.
-
"The village " got a ring to it, unique and recognisable
-
I don’t mind Club Doncaster when it’s not the only identity we talk about and we lose sight of the football, like how it was previous. Bramall has clearly stepped up on wanting football success.
I don’t know what’s financially viable and what isn’t but some sort of ‘mini’ version of that Co-Op place Man City are a part of would be good. East stand side. Get padel courts and similar in there that will be used every day and also offers advertising space. Could even move the gym into there too and use the current gym as more office space to rent out. Have it where it can be turned around into a 2/3000 capacity venue to hold bigger events throughout year like comedy shows, music gigs and boxing nights on weekends regularly. Could also be a decent ‘fanzone’ on match days.
Just one idea for that east stand side of the ‘Village’.

Whatever ‘objective’ is trying to be portrayed here (& I’m not saying the concept isn’t a bad one), it’s a football stadium for the majority of people who attend it on an annual basis.

I agree get that mound of a hill flattened and get an exhibition centre built for multi purpose events that would be mint for Doncaster saves venturing to Sheffield or Leeds etc for gigs !!!! We’ve been crying out for a decent music venue for years

Only just seen this post, which nullifies my earlier comment about forgoing sponsorship monies.
Apologies Martin.

Can't we use that 'mound of a hill' as a ski slope or for ski boards, etc?
The sarcasm on Twitter and here is deafening!
Welcome to joining 'The Village People' and maybe that's why we had pink kit this season. A sign of the times come.

Why, did someone bury toxic waste before excavating the lakes to make up the two hills with the spoil? One of which was originally intended to be a ski slope.
As it stands there's some nice walks around there, inuding the lake, and good views from the top of those hills, which all help towards physical and mental wellbeing.
The Village provides activities for so many people, not just sport either. When I started going to the gym a couple of years ago, I was surprised how many folk are down there during the day and evenings. With that comes direct spend on memberships of various groups and clubs but also the indirect spend, which I'm sure there's room for expansion into other activities and catering.
Someone mentioned above about Man City and their sports complex which has cost billions but we have our own. Maybe a smaller version but the same principles apply, it's all about participation and turnover.
We, amongst friends, will call the stadium what we want but it means more to far more to people than just Doncaster Rovers on a match day and something that more local businesses are likely to invest in for their employees too.

Surely the village is the collection of items, and the stadium is within the village? So could have it's own name, even if it's the CD Stadium.
