He’s been good of late. Giving him a new contract would be suboptimal though.
Bailey was great at the back today but we really need him in midfield. Tom would be a perfect back up CH, not the most cultured or easy on the eye but he does the basics of heading and kicking the ball away from our goal very well.

Bailey was immense. Said it before but he’s a really good centre half. Crew was good too, we can play more football with him in there.Bailey as centre back with Crew centre mid is the play for the last few games for me. No point playing McGrath when he’s not fit either. And yes big Tom was colossal. Need to be careful offering contracts out there though. Especially if we go up.
For the flack that some give TSL he had a good game today did everything he needed to do. But if it hadn’t been for good saves from their keeper it could have been 5/6

Giving him a new contract would be suboptimal though. If we go up I too thought the next step up would be one too many for Tom however, (& hands up here) if we didn’t offer him a contract, even as a squad player in an area where we know injuries can have a massive impact on the team, who would you look to in order to give you his level of cover when we need more quality in midfield & forward positions? So I simply ask, at the age of 31, with only McGrath, Olowu (fingers crossed) & Woody clearly now well past his sell by date the only players to have played in that back two (don’t scream Bailey, it’s not his ‘natural’ position) why would you not offer him a year with a possible years extension contract?

He’s been good of late, but Biggins, for example, turned it on at the end of last season and whatever happened to him??!?Honestly, Anderson has been a great servant and is a top bloke. Sentiment can’t come into decision making though. He would be very easy to upgrade from a football point of view.

The problem we have now Gaz is that Wood will leave and probably Olowu, so we'd need cover at CB. No one knows yet if Faulkner can step up LG1 level, McGrath probably can but again, who knows for sure. So give Tom another year to fill the Richard Wood gap and bring in another LG1 ready CB. IF we go up of course.
