If Crew can get his consistency back then on current form we’ve probably got a first choice below:

TLT

Sterry
O’Riordan
Pearson
Maxwell

Broadbent
Crew
Bailey

Gibson
Sharp
Molyneux

Your only questions would be McGrath for Pearson, and maybe Ajayi for Molyneux. I don’t think Ajayi has proved himself yet to come for the crown though.

I don’t think Ajayi is anywhere near challenging Moly for the first choice spot as it stands. Also think Clifton is the favoured choice in the most advanced central midfield role, although that may change when Crew & Gotts become more settled.

Gibson is probably slightly ahead of Middleton although they’ll continue to rotate - I’d be surprised if either gets more than 3 or 4 consecutive starts at any point this year unless the other is injured.

Ajayi isn’t close to Moly at the moment. And Crew hasn’t done much compared to Clifton, Close and Gotts when fit. Let’s not fall for loan player bias they need to have a few good games before we think they are 1st 11 material.

Agreed that Crew shouldn’t be ahead of Clifton, Close  and Gotts for an automatic starting place.

Does anyone know why the chickens decided to chant about Gibbos dad?
What has he done to pee them off?

Gibson is our most frustrating player IMO. Sometimes I just don’t think he applies himself correctly but when he does and he’s “on it” he plays to a very high standard. Many MOTM candidates yesterday but he edged it for me and not just for sticking it to their fans!

I agree he's frustrating at times but I'm pretty sure it's not down to lack of application. The way he carries himself and his body language is misleading, he strikes me as a very sensitive individual who probably puts too much pressure on himself and beats himself up when things don't quite work out. He's easily one of the most naturally gifted players in the team .

Agreed, he seems like me, takes things to heart maybe, easily frustrated and shuts off, not a criticism but I imagine controlling those emotions can be hard given the situation. Brilliant player though.

On the BBC Sport app comment thread his Dad came on and said the stick Jordan was getting was his fault because he was a vocal criticising the club for not giving Jordan much game time

I would say Gibson is comfortably ahead of Middleton.
JG better technically. Something about the way he receives the ball and glides with it.

Some of us have been saying for some time how good a player Gibbo is but that he needed to improve his shooting and often, his final ball.
Well he improved both aspects on Saturday so hopefully he will gain confidence from that and kick on and become a top player.
