Just signed for £1.2m we are hearing , although the club will never disclose the fee but we know Hull City bid the same amount and we bettered the personal terms Hull could offer , which must be a first for us .

https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2019/july/wilks2023/

Multi billionaire owners.

The owners maybe but the club isn't Jim , just raised £5.5m these last two weeks so in effect it's recycled money .

Mind you if the reports are to be believed we could be going to £3m to sign the striker Kone from Dynamo Dresden .

If that comes off I will be having a lie down    :woot:

I'm not jealous.

Maybe I am. Me old man is a Barnsley fan, so I'm getting it rammed down my neck daily.

You had a good run on us to be fair when Ryan ran the show .

You could have easily doubled us last season too , we couldn't have complained in all honesty .

You've got a cracking platform for a push at the Championship now. I wouldn't be surprised to see you challenging in a year or two. I've always thought we were never that far behind Barnsley, but right now, i'd say we're a million light years away.

At least Rotherham are shite.

We were on to something in 2016 when newly promoted , Mawson , Roberts , Hourihane , Winnall , Scowen and Watkins .

7th in the championship on new years day 2017 and one point behind 6th , the year Huddersfield won the play offs .

Heckingbottom was a fan and an ex player and kept his counsel on the sales of that talent , albeit under the old owner .

Stendel will not , for the first time in many a year we have a HC who has some clout , ambitious and already a bit of a legend .

If he walks because the club don't back him realistically then it will turn for ugly for our owners .

Stendel is a huge part of this club , we absolutely love the guy .

Where this eventually goes I don't know , in football you have to shake the dice to go to another level and Stendel most certainly isn't a guy to be satisfied with just avoiding relegation from the championship .

The fact that Malik is a Barnsley player tells you where this could potentially be going , Hecky wouldn't have got his way , not a chance .

A genuine question tyke, and going a bit off topic. Who do Barnsley fans see as their genuine rivals? Like I said i've Barnsley fans in my family, and they bang on about how much they hate Wednesday and Utd, even though neither of those clubs fans give a toss.

I'm indifferent about Barnsley, although I know some of our (mainly younger) contingent have tried to strike up a rivalry.

Just interested to see. Even Roterham claim we aren't their rivals.

To be honest we haven't any genuine rivals , the two Sheffield clubs have one another and that obviously won't change

We are absolutely crying out for Rotherham or Rovers to come and make a genuine rival and I say that with all due respect .

We do have a bit of a thing going with Leeds United , absolutely loathe em and they don't care too much for us either , however this is more about events off the field so doesn't really have any credibility .

I'd bloody well love to hate Rovers , that means we are both doing something right but the truth is I don't and that goes for the Millers too .

Just love the way Barnsley do there transfer work signing Young players on 3/4 years contracts unlike us 2 years max then all the contacts run out at the same time so a new team every two years

Like we did with Mandeville, Lund and Evina.

And thankfully Ben Whiteman too.

Wilks,

In one paper at 0935 he signs for Barnsley but by 0954 another paper says he has signed for Hull. I know he is fast but not that fast.
