Wilkes & Tafazolli
« on July 05, 2019, 09:01:28 am by rover-n-out »
Yahoo news stateing McCann is in talks with Leeds about securing Malik a move to Dull, and he is expected to sign Tafazolli as he is a free agent and has left Peterborough.
Am I right in thinking Tafazolli wasn't much cop when he was here, or have I got that wrong?

Tafazolli is an excellent player. Never played for us. He has scored against us though.

Not surprised he’s after both of them to be honest.

Would imagine Tafazolli was lined up to take Butler's place, till McCann left ,

Yes I was still hoping Tafazolli was one that was still waiting to sign he would have been the replacement for Butler for me. 6ft 4in centre half left sided but wanted Championship football.

Tafazolli was linked with us early in the window.

I hope Wilks goes to Barnaley to be honest, think it would be better for him.

Tafazoli turned down a new contract with Peterborough saying he wanted to play in Championship.  I'm sure we probably were interested but I don't think he was coming to us.
Not sure he turned us down before going to Peterborough a couple of years back.

My bet would be he was going to play for McCann, have not seen any other championship club showing an interest

Radio Humberside have reported that Barnsley have moved ahead of Hull City in the race to sign Malik .

The transfer is set to go through in the next couple of days and it's a permanent deal , just over £1m apparently .

Big risk if true , we are going to look remarkably silly paying that kind of money out for a lad who could go down next year for a stint inside .

The big risk for any team, is if they don't handle him right, he could easily go off the rails again, which would be a shame.
Wherever he  ends up I wish him well, he did great while he was here, and at the end of the season was improving fast as a more rounded team player.
Thanks for the memories I can't help thinking that Leeds are going to regret your leaving.

If this happens you have got yourself one hell of a player, most importantly he's an entertainer, he riles the crowd, opposition players and in Fergies case managers as well, it was a joy to watch him most times last season

I genuinely believe we are the right club for the lad with regard to getting his head right and focusing on becoming a top player .

He will get every opportunity to develop with us at a good club with a superb togetherness and spirit within the dressing room .

The worry that I have is the baggage he's currently carrying which obviously we had no control over .

Personally I'd have had him here on loan for 12 months and saw how the court case went but that said the club must have some idea of the likely scenario next may in court and taken a pragmatic approach , we aren't the type of club who can part with this kind of money on a whim and a prayer .

McCann got him to move here to keep him on the straight and narrow and it seemed to do the trick.

We got him a house in donny and moved him away from the influences he had in Leeds and he seemed to move him forward hopefully you can do the same tyke.

With the court case it could go either way but hopefully he has learned from it and become a great player as we know we helped him along his way

#barnsleyfc announce the signing of #lufc Malik Wilks on a 4 year deal. They’ve beaten off competition from Hull City to get him.

Just signed for £1.2m we are hearing , although the club will never disclose the fee but we know Hull City bid the same amount and we bettered the personal terms Hull could offer , which must be a first for us .

Agreed

Also if we had won the play offs he would have come here, I have no doubts about that

Decent signing if you'd stayed down. Thought he needed another season at league 1 level myself as he hardly tore it up. But showed glimpses of real quality at times and if you can drag those out of him more regularly he could do well. But if you're struggling I really don't think he's the guy to keep you up. Also 1.2mill is very over priced.

He is still raw but will get better.
You have signed a really good player.
A rocket of a left foot shot.
Prepare to be excited and frustrated by him.

You have an excellent player 100% committed and a joy to watch. Personally I am glad you have him at Barnsley rather than with snake McCann!

The owners maybe but the club isn't Jim , just raised £5.5m these last two weeks so in effect it's recycled money .

Mind you if the reports are to be believed we could be going to £3m to sign the striker Kone from Dynamo Dresden .

If that comes off I will be having a lie down    :woot:

You had a good run on us to be fair when Ryan ran the show .

You could have easily doubled us last season too , we couldn't have complained in all honesty .
