Tavonga Kuleya injured and out for the season, according to the Belper Town manager.

He does not say what the injury is, but bad luck for the lad.

Max Anderson was playing for Cleethorpes at the same level last season and scoring goals as an  u18s player three years younger than Kuleya and we let him go.
We have had three success's as outfield players on loan Faulkner, Flint and Adamson and Brown at Bradford PA has done ok to a point, the rest have spent more time on the bench.

Will two latest success’s come back and be able to consistently play in the first team or will they get picked up by other league sides to continue with their improvement. Our record of getting our young players into first team league football has been poor to non existent

Both good players, both attracting other clubs Steve, Faulkner obviously the first test of our resolve and basically is entitled to talk to other clubs now which you would expect his agent to be doing.
He hasn't had a good eighteen months with injury but is flying at the moment which clubs have noticed, Flint has done well all season and will be on show at Scunthorpe tonight no doubt and both are attracting attention, and in Flint's case a player that definitely will not be at Darlington next season and will play higher, hopefully here as still under contract for next season, with basically Faulkner in the same situation but at the end of his contract in June.
Both don't need to worry and are good enough to have a career in football where ever that is, again hopefully here.

I would put faith entirely in Brant  has sussed  out the mentalities of these young players, seen their potential, and more importantly measured all that against our needs for the immediate future .He has been through all of this before .

That last sentence is true but it’s also true that we’ve not seen many (any?) departures we’d regret beyond Watters (and I don’t think he actually came through the youths system). Mandeville has forged a professional career but this is the first season he’s actually been at the same level as us in the 5 or 6 since he left, Danny Amos played a bit at Grimsby and Brandon Horton a bit at Chesterfield but other than that has anyone actually played elsewhere at a decent level after leaving us in the past 10 years?

He played a lot in our first team and was sold for a fee. I’m talking about players who we’ve released who have come back to bite us.

Nick you are probably right, but it is nowhere near the number of loan players that have been signed that  have contributed next to nothing, or the money wasted on players we have signed ourselves that have also contributed next to nothing.
And at least the Academy lads cost us very little in wages when first signed, in many cases you could sign three or four first year pros for the price of one player brought into the club.
There is no such thing as a free transfer now, and we are asking players 18 years  old without a u21s to be up to the mark, where other clubs have a pathway after youth football, ours don't only have to have the skills, they are expected to have the strength of grown men and match their experience of professional football from the off.
  Faulkner and Flint are exceptional.

I remember watching Max Watters play at the eco power in some sort of reserve team game shortly before he left us. He was magnificent that night and I was genuinely amazed that we let him go.

I also remember another reserve game at the training ground when we had a couple of very promising triallists playing. After one of them scored a brilliant goal I looked around to see if Darren Moore had seen it. He was wandering around with his back to the pitch apparently having an argument with someone on his mobile phone.

I used to watch all the u18s games at Cantley at one time and especially when Darren Moore was manager, I never once saw him leave the office block to watch a game, unlike all the other managers we have had, especially Wellens and McSheffrey who always payed a visit if they were there.
They were also the first ones to send them out on loan and have them up from the then training complex at the Keepmoat to Cantley to train with the first team if they thought they were good enough.

Heard before that Moore was a lazy git with no interest in developing our youth
