Fantastic! Well done England.

A team with bags of talent but just as importantly a winning mentality.

Brilliant

Lucy Bronze has just revealed she played the whole of the tournament with a fractured tibia. What a war horse she is.

I'm so incredibly proud of these girls; and I'm proud to be English tonight.

They played against a bunch of scandalously cheating divers. And kept their cool.

They played against a referee who gave some awful decisions against them. And kept their heads.

They played a quality side today. And got the better of them.

What a great team.

Well done England ladies  :scarf: they were not great in my opinion during he tournament, but they really played well in the final, creating more clear cut chances and going toe to toe with Spain.

3 stand out players for me …

Well done J Carter , she was the best player for England today, and after the all racist abuse.

Hampton the keeper is a very good player, and seems to be very good with penalties.

Kelly, I can see why we keep her as super sub, it just works, but she is a hell of a player with quality most don’t have.

The negative for me is James - I am disappointed after all the hype I have heard, but her expressions don’t look like she is present? I am told she will be the best in the world eventually. I hope so for our sake, but she doesn’t have the right body language for me.

Any way - GET IN ENGLAND

Totally agree with your selections. James is an enigma and the hope is she'll mature into a better player, and show her best like she did 3 years ago. (She did her bit defensively today) She and Agymang up top could be devastating. They and a few others are the future now as Williamson, Mead and Bronze must be close to international retirement.

Williamson is 28.
Far from retirement for her. Though bronze should retire on a high she comes across as somebody who doesnt want to retire and will be available for selection as long as she can walk.

Just got back after watching the game with family.
We were really strong tonight, never gave up and the longer the second half went on with us behind the more I felt that we would level it up.
What a brilliant achievement by the girls that is.
Just had a quick scan through the other comments on here and I also thought that the Spaniards were screaming and diving at every opportunity and despite all their obvious skills they were cheating throughout the game.
I’m so happy that we beat them.

I seem to remember that's pretty much how the World Cup final went too. Only they managed to win that one.

You know what, I think she'd do a great job managing a men's team.

It's the logical next step in her career.

Clearly got the tournament mentally nailed but some poor decision on selection. Guess the trophy talks though.

Yeah, really poor eh Chris?

Just won a trophy purely by luck.

A very enjoyable win surrounded by Spaniards in the Irish Pub on Costa Blanca!

Loved it, and some very gracious reactions from the locals when we won the shoot-out.

Well done the Lionesses

You've got to feel for Spain.

Unbelievable Jeff!!

NAH! they've won the world cup,and only because with a bias ref giving everything to them, never felt for us.Nice for some level of revenge.

Whats so pleasing is,we've won it after so closely nearly going out in earlier rounds, like the great mens teams of Germany and Italy etc in the past often did, then gone on to win it!

An absolutely great win, but how did that happen, we get beaten by France, in the group, win in the quarter final in the last minute. win the semi final in the last moments of extra time. and win the final in a penalty shoot out after missing two ourselves including the first.
We won a competition being in front for about four minutes in 330 minutes of the last three games, it will never be done again
It's a funny old game, that's finding a way to win.

Yes.

Careful though… You’ll have Mickey War Horse Walker at your door.

James got through the earlier games, but was just no fit enough to get through the latter games, the manager should have realised this and it’s probably a poor decision she would been given a very hard time had we lost.
Agree with all the comments about the ref, a replay of some of the fouls made her decisions look very silly. Thought a number of the refs were poor, if she was given final because of being one of the best, says it all!

The ref is supposedly the best in Europe for women’s football. She has also been a ref in European men’s football. But she was definitely on the side of the Spanish and allowed them to dive s as nd scream when not touched

We were only in front for something like 5 mins for the whole of the knockout stages

That’s great and imho just about sums up the lionesses doesn’t it? In front when it matters irrespective of what had gone before in the game. A never say die winning attitude. They could teach the men a thing or two for sure.

Reminds me of us winning the league last season.  How long were we top of the league for?

Being in front at the end is all that matters.

Wached via hospital wifi, the ref fell for every Spanish dive and fall over and gave almost nothing the other way
