I nearly started a Broadbent thread last week, he's massive to the way we're playing now.
A few could see what Grant could, a year ago he was throwing the odd mistake in though, understandably given how raw he was, that clouded a lot of judgements (& still does with some).
Buzzing for him, well done to him & to Grant, for sticking by him.

Has anyone mentioned the run he made 2nd half? Picked the ball up just out of our box and  powered straight through the middle of Mansfield almost to their box, Ajayi did almost the same but ran out of steam before he could get a shot away

Yep noted that, his confidence must have been sky high, will only benefit from it more moving on, when he does surge forward i'd like to see him take on a shot, that shot last season where he nearly wiped out a defender was what we need to see, the lad has it in him and can get even better, pleased for him as i was one of the doubters and will hold my hands up.

Does he have a similar trajectory to Whiteman? When McCann got Ben playing in that deep foal he just grew and grew till he was too good for us.

McCann said in a press conference when Broadbent wasn’t playing particularly well and wasn’t really getting in the team that he will be better than Ben Whiteman. I thought it was spin. We paid money for Broadbent and he wasn’t living up to expectations. It’s just another glowing endorsement that Grant McCann absolutely knows what he’s doing. He’s got the lot - can spot potential, can spot talent, is tactically astute and is a fantastic motivator. He’s inching closer to being our best ever manager in my opinion

Fergie started that off didn't he? I remember everyone being confused when Whiteman was at the base of the diamond over Houghton.

Cor! That'd be a tough decision to make Pigeon! He's on the path for sure, but there's been a couple of brilliant ones in the past for sure: Sean O'Driscoll and Peter Doherty. Grant will have to be spectacular to exceed what they did. If he stays another 2 or 3 seasons he's got every chance of being up there.
