There’ll be a few on here in line for a portion of humble pie, bossed that midfield again

Ended last season well and bossing it so far this season. 24 years old... could be a massive year for him.

Yup I’m one
Thought he was poor last season up until Christmas - then has steadily improved. Thought he was excellent in 1st half.

Could end up being fantastic, or could be flash in pan, but McCann has been consistent since start that he is a real talent.

He's been excellent for a long time now, if you don't recognise that you aren't watching.

Best player on the pitch for two games now, and by some distance. Not to hijack a pro Broady post but Gotts has also looked great in his short time on the pitch - clever player.

Agreed, Gots looks lively, I still can’t see how Hanlon is going to be be the answer to our starting striker spot, 2nd game now and I just can’t see it !

Was going to say exactly the same, even before we saw him adapt to that anchor role when we couldn't see what his strengths were.

Shows we have to give ALL our relatively new players time to grow.

He's done very well so far. From someone who wanted us to sign someone else for that role.

McCann always said that he would be an important member of the team and he’s now proving GM right

Yes Hanson has not really shown much in first two games, needs to improve quickly.

Broadbent was great again today, no silly errors which have been his problem area, hopefully he can be the one who makes things happen in midfield, Grant has always had faith in him.

Always liked him and said we are better with him so I could be a smug one. But he's performed better than I expected so far in league one. There's certainly a bit more room to play at this level which helps.

Done alright hasn't he. We will see how he gets on against a decent league 1 side. I think the 2 we've played will be bottom 8 for sure

Well, they’ve got a history of wanting to save themselves, so that’s not surprising.

Pleased for George. There were some quite harsh opinions against his new deal from memory.

Long may it continue.

I think it’s quite hard for players to overcome the first impression fans have of them.

He wasn’t what he is now, but he was never a bad player in the first place. He took some unfair stick. (I’ve always stuck up for him).

Said it before on that thread. Had a player come in on loan in Jan and played like George everybody would have been unanimously buzzing at the contract signature in the summer.

Think his size always gave him more potential too.

Knew he would make a good player, he held his own in one of the very best u21s side at Sheffield United and really strong competition to start in that side.
Some push on quicker than others but I never ever doubted him, and posted so when not the apple of the eye of some last season.

Likewise mate, I have always thought he would be a good player for us.

I agree ... he played pass of the Season out to Middleton in first half with his back to goal 35 to 40 yards out.

they are better than that, though.  I thought they were miles better than Exeter, and look what they went and did today.

Mansfield don't seem to have a playing identity. A lot of aimless balls into areas. Even their goal today was an individual bit of skill to break a tackle and unleash a piledriver.  We are a far more cohesive team with a defined way of playing and I think a few other teams will be sitting up and taking notice from tonight.

I think they’ll finish bottom quarter of the league for sure. Think Clough is unlikely to see the season out.

There must have been something going on during the game between him and the Mansfield player.

MoM by a mile today.

I'm eating Humble Pie. 18 months ago I thought he was useless. Now he's looking like someone who could be the core of a L1 promotion side

Idiot behind me today had set his agenda from the off and moaned about Broadbent constantly, even hilariously when it was Clifton misplacing a pass. Tried to put him straight but you can’t educate pork.
