The DFP have confirmed, as one or two on here have alluded to, that the guy sat next to Olusanya on Saturday is Derby midfielder Darren Robinson, who's training with us.

Why he's training with us is at the moment unclear.

First instinct is him being a replacement loan.  If decisions have already been made about a player returning to his parent club, then it would make sense to bring in another to get him integrated with the squad.

Just watched the lad in NIs last couple of U21s. Very much an anchor midfielder in the Whiteman/Broadbent mould. Quite sturdy, good range of passing short and long, keeping it simple for the most part. Enjoys the mucky stuff in and out of possession plus likes to get into the box at set pieces to attack the ball so also has a little bit of Bailey about him too. Seems to read the game well and organises .

Always difficult to predict how they adjust to men's football but I like what I've seen.

At least now they have finally started putting via National world at the end of the article discription so you know its not about Donny (although sometimes the article is interesting) Yorkshire Post is exactly the same

Doesn't give that option, Gaz   pay or don't read thats on chrome. although I know of a browser that it doesnt come up on at least not for me

Chris Black - if the paper was written by real journalists reporting meaningful news items instead of regurgitating stuff they have stolen from facebook and other social media sites and if they could be bothered to report accurate information and give more facts about their stories, people would buy their newspaper. Journalism used to be a reputable profession but Johnson Press through their imitation publications such as The Yorkshire Post and the Free Press
have ripped the heart out of it. I have no sympathy for these pretend 'journalists'. And by the way there is a paywall but they dont always impose it.

They are qualified journalists who do a good and professional job. The means through which their work is paid for has transformed dramatically the last 10-20 years.

People complain about the stories they read and the subjects the cover, but this is because people are no longer paying for news, or at least paying in cash terms. Very few people buy a local newspaper anymore. The content that is published online is in part a function of what is likely to attract viewer attention and therefore advertising revenue. Sport is typically one of the better resourced areas which is why we get dedicated specialist journalists like Ricky.

To the extent there was ever a golden age of local journalism is was when people were willing to pay for this with their cash and advertisers had little other option other than TV or newspaper advertising. Neither of those two now exist.

Don't blame the journalists, they are only responding to the reality of advertising revenue shifting en masse online, and people no longer buying newspapers.
