on the dole in norway
« on August 01, 2010, 02:57:36 pm by not on facebook »
came across here 15 years ago when i was funny enough on
the dole back in england.got my dole money transfered to be paid to me once out in oslo and got my personal number.

found legal work after 3months in a pub,so was now paying tax and basically got what all norwegian were entitled too.

after working in said pub for 14years i got 3days notice that the bar was closing down in january 2010.

so went to norwegian dole office to see what i could claim for.
for first 3months i was told i be getting nothing as my employer had to pay me 4months wages plus 16month holiday pay,
but had to take him to court.now been told i will get all money owed to me from a government fund which is best part of
£20,000.

also i now get my dole payments every two weeks which works out at 62 per cent of yer last 3 years wages for two years.
this means i get £850 dole money every two weeks.

all in all it means i can keep my house on with monthly payments no problem.

i went on a course paid for by me sen to learn fork lift truck
out here, passed the course so now looking for job in that field.when i told dole they could not belive that i paid for course out of me own pocket and said if i waited untill sept they would have paid for the course,i told them that 30+ people
would ahve been in same class on course in sept since dole were paying for course...

course i was on only had 3people who were paid for by companys
also i have august and september to seek work before the market
is flooded with fork lift truck drivers seeking work.

also out here if you are sick off work for a full year you will get full months wage sick pay,and if your lass gives birth
she will get full wages for full year too.

but you have to have been working 3years and paid the tax to qualify.

does not take away how exspensive it is in norway, took me 3year old kid for a hair cut 6month back and that cost us £32.

when i was working i was paying 36 per cent tax which i asked to pay then i would allways get tax back each year, iam told i should ahve paid 30 per cent.

but in the norm your tax is on a sliding scale to your wages
r lass dad is on 40 per cent tax since he is in a higher earning bracket.

Good skills sounds like a good system ripe for abuse, I take it Norway has a tough immigration policy from outside the eu can you pass it on to the uk?

If you are out of work for a year here you get to be referred to companies offering training etc supposedly. Trouble is unless there is a written guarantee of a job afterwards then they refuse to pay for any course. I struggle to get £30 for a pair of trousers and a jacket to let a lad go to an interview. The company that I work for has nearly a million pounds that it is given to fund the long term unemployed tucked away gathering interest I presume. That's private enterprise for you, always looking to make the quick buck.
