Also I have heard somewhere that if you wear your Rovers shirt you get half price beer in town and at the bar at the brewery on match days at the vsc bar. Also we will convincingly win our opening match 2.0 away at preston.

Now some of this is obviously a dream but f**k me who cares.

Thinking of popping in there myself tonight.
It's hard to find a decent pint of beer these days, and some pubs often don't have any for sale at all, having succumbed to just selling different varieties of the girly stuff.
OK it can be argued that the girly stuff can actually be stronger than Bitter, but even the strong stuff tastes like thrice filtered  piss, although somehow with the salt retained.
wetherspoons can sometimes provide a decent pint providing you sample it before it's on the turn as opposed to actually turned, but the chances are risky.
Gimme a good pint of Black Sheep any day!

Went in earlier and had a pint of the toad golden ale which i must admit was nice;
also take your 'tart' in for the delicious Strawberry and also cherry flavoured beerr' they will shun Alcopop for good!

Speaking of Donny pubs not promoting Donny Rovers, the only framed/hung Rovers shirt I have seen in a town centre pub is in the Polish Bar (Sunny Bar, old Queens).....oh the irony

Definitely used to be one in the Sal, not sure if it's still there or not.

I called in last night and had a very nice pint of Silver King.

The pub is very basic and done out in old and reclaimed materials and is definitely not for the pound a pint brigade,£2.50ish for a pint of bitter. :)

Busy?

I was in at 8pm and it's not a massive pub ,but there were about 30 in with a steady flow of  customers over the half hour i was in.

I passed by again at 10.15pm and it looked to be about same 30+ in.

I was also in there on Saturday (as usual)and like you say a Rovers shirt hung on pillar as you enter.

It's a nice quiet/friendly place with a skull numbing pint of Zywiec. :)

Railway has a excellent pint as well,in a pub that still feels like a pub - goldin pippin on at the minute

Can also recommend Pivos in York, excellent way to waste couple of hours

Have just spent a week in Masham.

The difficult decisions, do I drink the new Golden Sheep bitter from Black Sheep Brewery or do I stick with my old favourtire Black Bull bitter.

We had a pre-season friendly at York one Friday night three years ago.  Got stood next to two Polish lads who seemed fairly amiable who were working in Leeds and had decided to come to the game.  In the spirit of inter-European friendship, I asked one of them where in Poland he was from, and he proudly replied by pointing to the label on the bottle of Zywiec he was clutching.

This harmless enquiry seamed to brand me as his \"mate\" and he proudly demonstated his repertoire of terrace anthems, but I had to lose him quickly as the pair of them were completely bonkers and as the Zywiec flowed, they seemed intent on provoking a fight with all and sundry, including the Law. My last sight of this two-man riot was as they were bundled into a shop doorway, still singing and gesticulating, by a posse of coppers

No wonder they get murders at Polish games if this pair were representative of the typical Polish footy fan.
