who could follow SOD's footsteps....
« on August 09, 2010, 07:04:15 pm by not on facebook »
sooner or later i would not suprise us all if/when SOD
moves on from doncaster rovers football club to  a more
high profile pasture.

everytime a manager gets sacked from the championship and
in some lower permiership clubs SOD is in the betting to replace.

there even is some toot on the radio pushing SOD forward to
be in the england set up

all in all it will get harder and harder for drfc to keep hold of SOD as things are progressing so far.

so who do you think could fit into the roll that SOD has
made at KMS and keep the ball rolling.

i be honest as i have not got a clue

I seem to remember somebody on here in the 'know' once indicating that JR would go for Nigel Adkins at SKitson, if we lost Sean !!!! was a while ago though.

ROK

I'd give him a go too. Let's get an Anfield-like, bootroom legacy going.

Nigel Adkins, alternatively as a fan i'd only accept one kind of manager. the type that plays like SOD

Mark Wilson if SOD takes ROK and backroom staff with him.He is taking his coaching badges and knows our system and players. But would we have the balls to go with an untried young manager.

I'd love ROK, but he'd leave with SOD. So for me it has to be Mark Wilson, he's spent his entire career with good managers, so I'd give him a chance.

We shouldn't even be talking about SOD leaving though.

I'd go for ROK but he'd probably follow SOD so I think Adkins is the more likely candidate, him and his backroom staff have a canny habit of finding talent. Not sure about Wilson, he's already got his haters in the stands so it wouldn't take long for the knives to come out. Maybe if he was assistant to Sulli, that could work out better.
I have come to love O'Driscoll and would hate to see him go, but I've got a feeling that this could be his last with us because we are going to do great things this season. I can't see MM at Wolves lasting long, and we all know the connections there.

i know its a morbid thread but we have to face the facts i guess.

one thing that really impress about SOD amongst many things
is his scouting abiltys.

there cant be many managers in the championship that can dig
out  rough uncutt players or established players that have lost their way and turn them round into SOD'S gems.

mills, wellens, stock from top of me head.

Isn't SoD meant to be grooming Mark Wilson to be a manager of the future? I'm sure i heard it or read it somewhere.

There is a guy called O'Neill that is currently unemployed - he'd be worth a punt!

I hope that's true. If SOD was to leave, then we'd have a much younger version of him and he'd hopefully keep the O'Driscoll style of play too. Sullivan as has assistant aswell please.

Another option could be to pinch Eddie Howe from Bournemouth. Apparently he's learnt a lot off of O'Driscoll and they have a similar style of play.

Nigel Adkins is my preferred choice and one I would expect based on past talk, JR is a good friend of Adkins and stated once that if SOD were to leave the club he'd want to bring in Adkins.

I'd love to see Willo given the chance but only if he had an experienced assistant alongside him.

Some good shouts here chaps. I wouldn't object to either Mark Wilson or Eddie Howe. Not sure about young Nigel: he does spot a good player for ten bob, but is his brand of togger ewhat the Doctor orders these days?

Paul Trollope, Paul Lambert, Howe, Adkins or Willo - I'd go for Willo, give the guy a crack, but as mentioned earlier I think he'd need an experienced sidekick!

I think we'd really be struggling to find someone to carry on in the SoD mould. The likes of Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola aren't likely to be available.

Perhaps Roberto Martinez might be available if things don't work out so well  for him at Wigan? Not likely either. Not sure if we could get him but maybe Gus Poyet wouldn't be a bad shout? Although I'm not sure how he likes to see the game played.

Gus Poyet for me too, likes his teams to play the right way!! Failing him, ROK, Adkins and Martinez (if unemployed at the time) are good shouts. Would be too early for Willo IMHO, players want to play for as long as they can!!

I think ROK would be a great shout if he didn't leave with SOD, he knows the team and system inside out, and have you seen his enthusiasm on match day??? 1st class!!!!!!

one question/fact we all seem to have missed is
what is going through JR's mind.

for sure he must have done his homework and have
a type of list kicking about.
