Looks like a cracking player. Wonder if this will help us seal a loan deal for Caulker as well???

Looks a very bright young player and hopefully harry sees this is the club for his younger players to learn total football. The only thing that worries me is that weve brought in Mason due to Hayters injury being worse then first feared.

Hopefully this will be the start of a good relationship between Rovers and Spurs. They have got some cracking young players coming through, and if we could get one or two more of them, it can't do any harm. Starting with Caulker maybe?

\"A product of the Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Ryan Mason, 18, has scored an impressive 39 goals in 47 games (4 games starting on the bench) for the academy.

Mason started off in midfield, but was ushered into an attacking midfielder/striker role by Clive Allen after he scored 11 goals in his first full season.

Ryan Mason is extremely pacey and has an abundance of skill.

We expect him to make several first-team appearances in the coming season, especially in the early League Cup rounds.\"

From a Spurs ST holder:

\"Yeah good footballer.  Usually likes to play off a bigish front man.  Bit
lightweight but cracking on the ball.  Scored a few for Yeovil last year on
loan but a few people have got hopes for him at Spurs.  Think he played in
the UEFA cup for us a couple of years ago too.\"

Sounds like he'll fit right in to our land of the giants!

The Official site says he is signed as a Youth Signing similar to Jordan Mutch anyone know what it means in terms of length of loan?

According to Spurs OS, it's a months loan, but I can see us extending it (like we did with Mutch) if he's any good.

I nearly choked on my tea when I read that he scored his first goal for Yeovil from a free kick. Will we finally have a player with a dangerous set-piece in our armoury?!

We've only got him for a month though

Aye, an initial month's loan to get the deal pushed through. It wouldn't surprise me if it's extended though.

Do we really need another centre back now? Martis, Thomas, Locky, Hird?

If anything I think we could do with another striker to help Sharp out, coz I cant see Brooker regaining his sharpness/match fitness anytime soon. A youngster on a 3 month loan would be nice

I think we still need a centre back and a striker, and I wouldn't mind left back cover if it's feesible. Yes we have the numbers in defence but really, we don't have top quality. Shackell has not been replaced yet IMO.

I believe so, we have seen SOD play 3 at the back a few times over the last few years. I also agree we need another striker and would think that we are closer than people think and its only a matter of time but again its all down to the Premiership big guns who are finalising their 25 man squads.

Well the prem teams need to pick there 25 by this weekend, however they can chop and change till sept 1st at 5pm. But i think when they pick there 25 this weekend then it will show who's available for loan and transfer ect.

I think this '25 man squad' thing is a bit of a red herring. They can add as many U21 players as they like additional to that 25.

You seem to forget that it seems impossible to dis-lodge Woods from this duty no matter how often he hits the wall or the back of the stand. I shudder to think how bad the rest must look in training if he's our best hope from a free-kick!

Last season Spurs sent Mason and Caulker out on loan to the same club, let's hope they do the same this season.

Doncaster Rovers have today drafted in young Tottenham Hotspur starlet Ryan Mason on a youth loan deal.

What's that mean ? Does he have to be in bed by 9pm on a School night ?

What i means is if he isnt in the squad for a game, he can go back and play for the reserves, then come back and carry on with his loan. Makes it more flexible loan thats all.

It means Doncaster Rovers and Totteringham Hotspurs are involved in a paedophile ring.

I did not know what a Youth Loan meant until I read that we can have him for 28 days before Spurs can demand him back. Spurs though can leave him with us for the whole season if they and us agree.

In all honesty I have no idea about Mason nor this Caulker kid. But as said, if they went out on loan together last season, there could be the scenario that they are sent out together again to improve their quality/development even higher than Yeovil, and it will assist them both in settling in to a life with the Northern Monkeys.

The very description of Mason is that of support to Billy and to give us some forward momentum.....ie Hayts, Copps and Shiels. These 3 can play anywhere in our team and very versatile. Not sure how much game time he will get or is it simply to cover the squad position until Hayts is back. If he plays a bit, then Deano looks vulnerable and must be concerned.

Let's see in a months time.

Anyway to be the first:

Mason can build on his development here
Mason will have David James bricking himself today

and so on and so forth
