JR on the Bellamy deal

Interesting reading, although it will probably be dismissed as sour grapes. Pity that JR didn't get elected to the FA- he's the sort of man they need.

Excellent article.Good old JR. Can't be construed as sour grapes as he says we would have done it  but its the sanctity of the competition that suffers. See City put on a special performance for their owner WATCHING HIS FIRST GAME last night. Not quite like watching his local side since 1958 is it ?

Excellent comments by Ryan. He's bang on the money on every point.

There is a dead simple way for the football authorities to deal with this. Insist that the club taking on a loanee must pay, say, 50% of the loanees wages as a minimum.

Problem solved. If the will is there.

i said all along that the championship teams with connections

Toon Were 'Far Too Good' For Numpties In Championship

By Nu Mad   Tuesday, 24th August 2010

Doncaster chairman John Ryan has hit out at Craig Bellamy's move to Cardiff ... although the man seems to be talking out of his arse. He says Bellars is \"too good\" for the Championship.

We were too good for the Championship last season ... but such is life.

I'm sure the likes of Alan Smith, Kevin Nolan, Fabricio Coloccini, Peter Lovenkrands, Joey Barton and Jonas Gutierrez could have done without the \"Championship Experience\", so whay makes Bellars any different?

City were hardly likely to hand him to another Premiership club, were they?

Doncaster chairman John Ryan: \"Craig Bellamy's loan move to Cardiff will distort the integrity of the Championship. It is an incredibly competitive division.

\"Handing a striker of Bellamy's quality to Cardiff - and paying most of his wages - undermines the sanctity of the competition.

\"Manchester City shouldn't have done that. I feel let down by that, as do many other Championship chairmen.

\"In no way do I blame Cardiff. I'd have been delighted to sign Craig at the Keepmoat, so it's not sour grapes.

\"But if everyone goes to Cardiff and gets slammed 4-0 like us - and remember on-loan Bellamy scored one and set up two on Saturday - the result will be an unfair competition because Manchester City are bankrolling Cardiff's success.

\"The loan system should be about sending out youngsters to become better footballers. That's what we do. Last year we took Jay Emmanuel-Thomas from Arsenal and Jordan Mutch from Birmingham.

\"There's no doubting that Bellamy will make Cardiff a better side, but no club in the Championship would be able to afford such a talent without the goodwill of the Premier League team.
\"I say 'goodwill', but it's more about control. The control the Premier League elite have over the rest of football.\"

OUR MESSAGE TO THE DONNY CHAIRMAN :
There's only one place to be ... and that's the Premiership! And if you are not good enough to get there ... tough shit ... that is your problem!

..and it doesn't matter how much debt you rack up to get there cos the football league will turn a blind eye as HMRC are virtually powerless. Even if you go in to administration you only get 10 points knocked off and that can be made up by the highly paid players you are allowed to keep.

Yeah, the money that Ashley wasted, the money that Cardiff and many other clubs owe sets a great example for all clubs to follow.

Ah well. Ten years back, it were dipshits from Rushden and Stevenage who were queueing up to have a pop at us.

I guess it's a sign of how far we've come that it's now dipshits from Newcastle.

They might be 5 divisions higher but it's just the same old bell ends in a different shirt, eh?

The Premiership ISN'T the place to be though, is it?

It really is a dull league for most teams. The only advantage to Rovers getting there would be the money it would provide.

JR and other chairmen should have made this point before the match. They (Cardiff) owe big money and have found a great way around the 'non-purchase' clause.
This precedent will destroy the finances of the championship......................jeez they're bad enough as it is.

I'm still a bit uneasy about JR saying this. You never know but we may benefit from something similar.

In fact, I'm sure we have benefitted before on loans. Normally the player stays on the payroll of the owning club and the loaning club pays a loan fee, either in a lump sum or installments.

We had Jason Shackell for the fist month and if the finances were to be believed then he was on £10k per week, but we only paid Wolves £30k, so Wolves subsidised the rest.

Now even if clubs are in debt and are keeping up with their repayments, then I don't see why they can't buy or loan whomever, so long as it doesn't prevent them servicing the debt.

The only problem I had with the Cardiff thing, is they were persistantly defaulting on the payments to HMRC and missed 2 installments to Motherwell, yet the Football league lifted the transfer embargo before they caught up with those 2 payments.
