Probably the best Tory party has to offer.

It looks like he's put himself at odds with the Government over austerity measures.

Of course. He was the Chancellor who actually quite skilfully guided us out of the last recession. But he did it by binning the Thatcherite approach and balancing fiscal tightening with measured designed to encourage growth. He's closer to Labour on economic policy than he is to Osbourne.

But of course, that's not fashionable, so he's been shunted off to somewhere where he has no influence on economic policy.

Another great example of u-turning on Newsnight (Wed 13/10)

Simon Hughes, Lib Dem deputy being asked about his signed declaration during the election campaign. 24 minutes in.
His pledge 'to vote against any increase in fees' for students.

Listen to him squirm out of answering if he will vote against the increases in the financial review!!!

I am not taking sides on the issue, only adding another example. Whilst not denying the seriousness of any individual's circumstances I found his 'performance' to say the least entertaining.

It's easy pickings for Dimbleby, Paxman, Boulton, Jermey Kyle et al............so many Lib/Dems have squirmed like chuff on backtracking on their policies/beliefs. Unfortunately the interviewers show leniency and leave them alone after a bit of fun. I think they are having a field day.
