Culture Vultures
« on October 15, 2010, 11:58:38 pm by CusworthRovers »
I'm taking Mrs CR down to that there London towards the end of November. No kids coming so I'm going to wreck the bedroom with her, hopefully. Anyway before that.....

We are going to take in a show, but I fancy an adult theme. We've done Oliver and Lion King with the wee shites, now it's something for us.

To be honest I'm up for owt. I fancy a bit of Ballet, Opera, Shakespeare, Mouse Trap, Raymonds Revue Bar anything to broaden the old grey matter and culture up this Northern Heathen.

Anybody seen anything or know anything that's worthwhile?

In anticipation

Ok Cussy, you're going to laugh, but this is what I love to do in London:

1.  Borough Market - London Bridge tube stop
2.  Run in Hyde Park
3.  Natural History Museum and then go ice skating in the winter out front (and have fun falling down in front of everyone)
4.   Walk around the neighborhoods until I get lost
5.. The Top Shop
6.  The Cabinet War Rooms
7.  Westminister Bridge at night
8.  Book stores on Charing Cross Road
9.  Christmas markets around London
10. The Crypt at St Martins in the Fields for apple crumble with custard
11.  Any play or musical is fun
12.  Go to a pub with the locals and chat with them
13  Watch a game of 5 a side
14.  Go to a prem match?

Hope that helps.  :-)

Forgot for special occasions:
Tea at the Wolseley
Indian Restaurant I like is the Tamarind or Noor Jahan or something on Old Brompton Road
My favorite Italian Restaurant is Osteria Dell'arancio

Bloody 'ell Sandy. I've been on a plane from Stockholm to Gatwick tonight sat next to a Palace fan who kept rabbitting on about Borough  Market.  I assume it was some local soap opera for the poor benighted gets in The Smoke so I ignored him, but maybe I missed a cultural experience.

Billy, Borough Market is very cool in east London on Thursday thru Saurdays and it has all kinds of foods -- fresh fish, meat, all different kinds of ethnic foods freshly made right there.  Mulled cider, fresh pork sandwihes, home made pasta, A great cheese place called Neal's cheese Yard.  Can you tell I love to eat?  (which is why i run in Hyde Park)... lol

Les Miserables should get her all sentimental and tearful, follow that with Woman in Black -scare the shite out of her and many pillows should be fluffed to comfort/console/cheer her up/unscare her! Go for it pal!

We Will Rock You was superb but if you want to build up some brownie points that could be repaid later try Mammia Mia. Bag of shit, but the women seem to love it!

I've seen Blood Brothers loads of times and always enjoy it. You can usually pick up tickets from a discount booth in Leicester Square area.

Also a few drinks around Soho are always good - a good variety of bars etc. There's a great little shop round there called \"Vintage Magazine\" too. Not just another grot emporium!

Mike, have you caught either of the Little Theatre's version of Blood Brothers? The play rather than the musical! Toured last year a la 'Brassed Off' and was first done 15 years ago with yours truly as Mickey! Both good pieces of entertainment!

At the moment Mrs CR seems stuck on Wicked.

I'm still up for a play or Les Mis.

I note The Vagina Monologues is coming to The Dome. Am I too much of a heathen to expect it to have lot's of cheap shots of .........

Alan, my misus and her pals came to see Girls Night Out in Ibiza the other week, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  The only criticism was you need to get blokes with bigger willies next time.  Sadly, she has been spoiled....   B)

War Horse is the meant to be the play to see.

I might just wait for the Stephen Spielberg adaptation for the big screen though.

Indeed, it could be the next blockbuster, have to say though I'm disappointed it's not a real horse that takes to the boards of the West End
