Help for Heroes - Fundraising
« on December 13, 2010, 09:39:51 pm by barnsleytyke »
Hi

I’m a Barnsley fan and come in peace!  I’m looking for any help from the fans of your club / or pointing in the right direction to someone within the club who may be willing to help with what I’m looking for.

In February 2012 I am trekking through Costa Rica, coast to coast, in support for the charity HELP FOR HEROES.  I’ve no doubt you  are all familiar with this charity and the work that it does in supporting our wounded troops when they return back from the current war zones across the world.
The charity is personally close to me and my family and over the course of the next 12 months I aim to raise £10’000.  To raise these funds we already have several large events arranged locally, aim to organise online auctions and will be arranging several bucket collections at local sporting events.

So how can you help?  I fully appreciate that everyone within the UK is currently experiencing some financial difficulties, may already commit to supporting one or more charities or have other ways of supporting a charity but I’m looking for the support of fellow football fans to help me towards my goal.  Every penny counts and helps these troops.  Also, any donation that you make ‘gift aid’ can be claimed and increases the amount of your donation at no extra cost to you.

Any donation can be made online at the following link:

https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/mellorscostaricajungletrek2012

The final thing I’m looking for is a contact within each club who would be best to contact to see if they would be able to support us in making our online auction a success.  The hope is for each club within the league to donate an item (signed or not).  These items would then be auctioned online on an agreed date and promoted across the football forums.

If anyone would like any further information surrounding the event or the charity you can e-mail me at costarica2012trek@hotmail.co.uk

I thank you for taking the time to read this.  Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yours truly,

Carl Mellor

An extremely worthy cause to support.

I'll be making a donation, I too was an RAF Police dog handler.
