Come on Bill keep up with the programme! College football is the dogs dangles! Their version of the FA cup final tonight, whether or not you like the game you have to admire athletes such as Cam Newton. Every now and again every sport throws up a one off and Newton is the college games leading light! He can do it all the lad!!!

Got the answer.

Billy's computer says \"No it int. Being buggered by Alan Warboys while Ernie Moss plays conkers with your nadgers would, on balance, be a less excruciating experience than watching American team sport.\"

But, each to their own eh?

Enjoy, as our colonial cousins say.

I think college football is the best of american sports, baseball is a posh rounders, and basketball, well, its boys Netball isn't it? Love em or hate em, they know how to put a show on and the pre-game run out should be something we should emulate at the Keepmoat!!!!

Just to clear it up Sandy, I was saying that I expect Auburn to win by 34 points to 21. Newtons gonna get ya, is the same as saying Rooney's gonna get ya, and War Eagle is the Auburn version of \"Up the Rovers\"!

Not the result I expected, but the margin of victory didn't suprise me. Difference was Auburn's D line just took the O line of Oregon apart. Nick Fairley is a beast and I expect him to be No.1 pick in the Draft. Carolina needs help there and he fits the bill.

Five weeks is a long time between games and Auburn clearly used their time more effectively in working out how to combat the Ducks' offence. It showed early on as both teams looked ragged in the first quarter. NCAA need to look at that, 5 weeks lay off is too much IMO.

Newton was okay, personally I thought Thomas played better. His pass to tie the game is one of the hardest skills to master, throwing of the back foot with accuracy.

Good game averall, was just expecting a bit more of a points-fest.

Good job i'm off today.....i'm ready for a kip !

Thanks for that Savvy.  I just realized that Auburn is about 100 miles from where I am now in Atlanta, as their celebrations were all over the news this am.    Anyway, glad you and Mark enjoy our football !

Sorry mate I thought you were taking the piss in your previous post! I got hooked on the College game whilst I was at Murray State in 95/96 so I follow the Racers, Boise State and Auburn! Incidently, whilst at Murray the head coach was none other than Houston Nutt who was part of the ESPN coverage team last night and has obviously moved onto better things at Ole Miss!

Last night was a great advertisement for the game, and a classic 1 versus 2 match up which was always in the balance right until the final seconds. It obviously ended up in a defensive battle more than the expected scoring fest that was anticipated given the offensive of both sides! Play of the game has got to have been the 3rd quarter stop of a certain touchdown for the Ducks which also led to the goal line stand by Auburn! As Mark suggested Nick Fairley had marvellous game and tortured the Ducks all night, Cam Newton wasn't at his best, but obviously part of Oregon's plan would impacted on that! Saturday nights aren't going to be the same for a good while now! Mark here's one for you mate!!! War damn Eagle!!!!

No problem Savvy, and I wasn't taking the piss with you, just laughing at myself as I know nothing about our football, so was agreeing with Billy about the lingo.  That said, I appreciate your lengthy explanation, but it's sadly lost on me again.  But it sounded like you enjoyed your uni experience here, and really got into the college football scene as well.  :-)

P.S.  I'm a female yank and the only sports I really understand are your footie and our baseball (and tennis and golf sometimes), hope that helps.  Oh, and I don't really understand all your footie rules, but love it anyway.

Sandy, if there are any lads who play football local to you (18+) that fancy a Summer here in the UK playing, drop me a note. We'd be more than happy to accomodate them if possible. Offensive Linemen are always welcome.

Savvy, you should come down and get involved mate.

As I said above, Fairley is going to go No.1 in my opinion. The kid is a monster, almost 300lbs with speed to burn. That is, unless the Panthers don't see Jimmy Clausen as the answer to their QB future. But I doubt they'll dump him after half a season. He's only just learnt the Offence and drafting Newton with their first pick wouldn't make sense to me, especially when they stunk at D Line this season.

All this is, of course, dependant on whether Newton declares himself eligible for the draft...

if anyone is interested.... http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6010420

Don't know any off hand Mark, as my son played baseball and soccer, but I'll ask around.  It's a very nice offer for someone interested in playing and seeing the UK.

It's a two way street as well. I happen to know the England Under 19 football ladies captain. Polly New. She played for Chelsea but she's now spending a lot of her time in Kansas at some college or other - playing for them and studying for something or other whilst being sponsored really rather nicely :)

Can you do sponsorship then Mark?!

Cheers

Just to drag up an old topic....I called that one wrong.

Newton went No.1 to the Panthers, but I suppose they need to compete in a division where Drew Brees, Matt Ryan & Josh Freeman are all legit QB's. But I still maintain they needed Fairley or Marcell Dareus more.

Talking of Nick Fairley...the Lions are going to have the best Defensive Line in Football now with him teaming up with Suh and Vanden Bosch. I wouldn't fancy running against those 3.

Didn't see Jake Locker going before Blaine Gabbert either...and Christian Ponder taken by the Vikes...I guess Farve really is retiring this time !!

Will be watching to see where two of my tips end up in the second round...Da'Quan Bowers and Ryan Mallet...I thought both would have gone earlier
