Child custody
« on January 14, 2011, 11:55:19 am by MrFrost »
Hello,
Was wondering if anyone on here could give me a little bit of advice.

I'll keep it short.

Basically my partner has left me for someone else, took my son and moved in with this other bloke. I haven't seen my son for over two weeks and I cannot make any arrangements to see him. (She is basically ignoring my calls and requests to see him). I have an appointment with a solicitor next week, but I was basically wondering if anyone has any similar experiences and any idea of the timescales and costs involved to persue some kind of joint custody through the courts. I'm very anxious to see my son!

Thats not to mention she took every single thing in the house and cleaned out the bank acoKitson completely, but thats the least of my concern right now.

Thanks in advance.

I'd be the first to admit I've had a laugh at your previous mishaps but this is a really sad situation. I can't offer any advice but genuinely wish you well and hope you can sort it out.

You gewt an initial consultation with a solicitor free, they`ll give you a good idea of the costs involved, it`ll not be cheap though and solicitors love these kind of cases, they can rake it in charging for every letter back and forth, good luck in your case

I've PM'd you too Mr Frost. I@ve been somewhere near where you are now. Not a nice situation at all. But don't panic, the Court will not allow her to prevent you from seeing your lad. The trick though, is to get stuck in early. I'll PM you the rest.

Good luck

This is what I like about this forum and it's members, although we bicker and often fall out, when someone is in need, certain players pull through for their own and leave all the other shite behind.

The thing is, I like to think we are all a family of sorts.. You might not agree with everything, some members might irritate on occasion but if needed there is always someone who cares.

Keep your chin up Mike, and good luck, I'm thinking of you.x

Christ. As mentioned before we all like to have a laugh at Frosty's apparent misfortune but genuine best wishes at sorting this one, I went through possibly the cleanest divorce in history, but it was still a tough time so I couldn't imagine what a break-up would be like with antagonism from the other side and a child involved.

Sorry to hear abut it .... my divorce was all \"amicable\".

I can say though that BobG had endless issues, and if Bob has Pm'd you please take the time to take note - for a cantankerous old t**t he can be very helpful.

The very best of luck - no-one should ever try to stop a proper dad (or mum) from seeing their child.

Very best of luck with it mate, you have to learn to be patient in these cases I`m afraid.  I`ll also be in the Toad if you fancy a beer.

Good luck with it mate, must be a terrible time for you at the moment.

Sounds like the ex has gone, but the kid is definitely worth fighting for. Keep a cool head and remember to take the advice of solicitors who have been through this many times

Mr Frost.

I work for a solicitor's and know a far bit in this arena due to being in the same situation as well a while ago..

What i would recommend is..(plus a few questions.)

firstly was you married?? if yes Good as you have parental rights which means alot. Of not you will need to go and see a family law solicitors sooner rather than later.

You will get your first hour free,, (also stipulate to use a trainee solicitor as there charge rates are ALOT cheaper than a x year qualified one). You don't usually need to go to court in these situations unless your partner is spouting things about you as a father.

DONT PAY ANY DEMANDS TO YOUR PARTNER UNTIL YOU SEE A SOLICITOR. (ALSO DONT NEGOTIATE WITH CSA WITH SPEAKING TO A SOLICITOR)..

And this should not that much either i would say 3 visits to your solicitor would be enough to sort things.

If you need anything let me know..

Good Family law solicitor is Levi and Co Leeds.! (BTW i dont actually work for these people but they do come recommended)

Sorry for your news.!
