If SOD was to go i'd like to think our next manager could be Di Matteo!! He hadn't done an awful lot wrong IMO.

Can't see it being SO'D. He's a Wolfie, which would not go down well at the Hawthorns. Also they need a fire-fighter, not someone who needs time to build something.

Strikes me as a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction by the West Brom board though

As a Wolves fan surely SOD won't want to go there? WBA are Wolves' Barnsley, so to speak.

My initial reaction to the sacking was 'well that's ridiculous' but then you read that they've lost 13 of the last 18 and the way football is these days that's almost always going to lead to a sacking. It is ridiculous though.

Totally ridiculous.  I don't think SOD will go anywhere where this stupid sacking culture has reared it's ugly head.

Had to laugh at this quote from their chairman -

\"This club's track record proves we do not take such decisions lightly, with Roberto being only our fourth manager or head coach in almost 11 years. \"

That's ALMOST 11 years, so ten years then. The replacement will be their 5th manager. So that's roughly one every 2 years. Jeez, they really give them time in the midlands (just enough to get them promoted and relegated), bet Sean can't wait. Must be thinking he could earn more in two years there than 10 years here.

If the reasoning is that they want someone who can keep them in the PL then they are hardly going to appoint someone who has never managed there - isn't Allardice from around that way?

Aye, and he's a Wolves fan too. I've already seen plenty of WBA fans writing him off as an option for that reason.

Plus he'd not be a good choice, his style of play doesn't suit the players at WBA. They need to appoint somebody with a footballing philosophy really.

Derek McInnes has emerged as something of a front-runner for the job. Hope they don't snatch him as he would be an ideal replacement for Sean O'Driscoll at some point further along the line.

There's a few decent managers around that would be ideal replacements if SOD does get the chance to step up.

We've missed out on Adkins and Howe but as a country we seem to be churning out good managers who play football the right way. Like we say everytime a job comes up, JR will know in his mind who will be best to replace SOD with if the need arises (Hopefully no time soon though!)
