47/48 season Rovers averaged 22,335 despite being relegated that season finishing 21/22. !!

What needs bearing in mind is that in 1951 ( ish) there was little in way of entertainment other than Cinema / Theater / live sport, TV was very much in its infancy.Football then was exciting, not a chess like game, wingers were just that, and tried to beat their opponent, Centre forwards were allowed to \"Barge\" into keeper, none of this 2 yellows and you're out, it was either ok or a sending off.Today a ticket is about 8% of take home pay,( though that depends on how well / poorly paid an individual is ) when i first had a job, entrance fee was approx 3.5% of Take home pay.
Ah, stupid Irishcontingent, i read the original post as those matches being DRFC home attendance figures for the season , which may have meant Leeds and SU were in mid winter and / or very wet days, thus leading to \"Low\" attendance figures. Now i understand those figures are each teams average attendance at their ground throughout the season.* NB I must take greater care when reading posts*.
Interesting list of Rovers attendances. What is noticeable to me is that we dropped from 22,800 average in 1951 to 6,600 in 1959, and never really recovered. This was after 2 relegations, but bar the odd blip we've been in the 2k-6k bracket since then. So it looks more realistically as if we've missed a few generations of fans, not just the 90's lot. Puts our recent 10k+ in a better light.
the 1951 kit was great too. It would be the very best away kit for us even today!
