Would have been one of the first I'd have got rid of, along with Sulli, to be honest . So much for a big clearout of dead wood eh?

I wanted him to stay, ideal cover in many areas. But to be honest if my manager had said those things about me i'd have told em to stuff it.

Anyone remember the comments, saying how Sam earns his money more than any of the other players due to the fact that Doncaster is the only club in the championship who would employ a player of his quality. And that he doesnt earn anywhere near what the other players earn for that reason.

Bizarre comments really, but good on him for trying to prove the manager wrong. Id rather see a Donny lad on the bench then the likes of some of these trialists.

I might be wrong but is he our only Doncaster born player?

Lets hope we can sign better quality than Sam this season otherwise we will be shipping goals like last season. We have not improved the goal keepers and has yet our central defence has not been improved oh yes but there is time. By the way if where interested in Darby in gone to Rochdale for the season.

Im backing Sam Hird. Indecision in goal didnt help him at times last year. Sulli simply doesnt seem to trust him and it reflected in the goals we conceeded with Sulli half way out of the goal on his way to sam!!

i think the comments by sod were a little harsh and sam probably was the unlucky one to feel the brunt of his anger after a poor team performance against wolves. you dont become a bad player that easily. hird was one of our best defenders in the first two seasons and last season was partnered with poor defenders.
in my opinion he will come good again and obviously sod agrees hence the contract.

plus hird was definatly offered contracts by brighton and one other championship club but decided to stay and fight. shows balls.

id agree with that comment on last season. average in our first two seasons, now ur being silly. mills, hird, shackell, oconnor, ward were all top draw. dont forget that gaz laz. anyway, no more deabating, like u said been through it. lets see what happens this season.

The trust point is an interesting one. There were plenty of times in the first two seasons at this level where ROK was always passing info onto Sam ro relay to other players but last season he seemed to have fallen out of favour with the bench.

IMO it's a new season and a fresh start, yet some people are already writing him off. It's ridiculous.

Personally I like Hird.  SO'D would not have offered him a contract if he felt he had nothing to offer.

Give the lad a chance.

Expect better from you grayx. We all know there will only ever be one guy! Closely followed by Wilson! :).
Think most would put young sam in a much better quality bracket.

I am very disturbed at the fact that Sir Benaldo has not arisen to give his comments on this thread. I have been eagerly anticipating every time I log in and still nothing. C'mon Benny, cheer me up :clapping:

He's sat at home crying with a bottle of whiskey lobbing darts at Sam's face on a dartboard.
