Letting Agents
« on August 17, 2011, 11:05:42 am by MrFrost »
Can anyone here advise me on my rights as a tennant renting from a letting agent.

I have been renting a property from Moss Properties since Febuary, and discovered about 3 weeks ago that the property is up for sale and has been the whole time I have been living in it. When I moved into the property, I advised the agents I was looking for a long term let, and they assured me that this one was available long term and the owners had no plans to sell.

I got a call about 3 weeks ago advising the someone wanted to view the property to buy. I explained my concerns then, and they informed me they don't have to tell me if the property is up for sale. I waited in for the prospective buyer to attend, but they didn't show.

They have also now requested that I pay my rent every 2 months, rather than monthly, and have advised that as I am now at the end of my initial 6 months I have to pay £150 to renew the tenancy on a month by month basis. (This is actually in my contract but seems like extortion.)

Further more, I paid £150 for reference checks before moving in. Not a single one of my references have been checked.
Im going to service notice on the property I am renting, so if anyone knows of a decent letting agents or private landlord with any properties, please let me know!

Cheers.

I'm not really fussed. Could be an apartment or a house. I've got a budget of around £550 a month. I'm currently at Woodfield Plantation, but anywhere really.
I'm being a bit vague aren't I?!

I've got a shed with a broken roof, you can kip there for £550 a month. I won't even charge you an admin fee.

Cheers i'll have a look. I really need something long term, as I can't do with the hassle of moving every six months to a year. Unfortunately, it seems most letting agents only offer short term from my experience.

most of the flats in area i live on Brander are purely bought to let properties! i have been living on here for 4 years or so and all have had tenants come and go apart from the people that bought to live in, or are happy with where they live etc.

I am sure depending on what agency you use you can contact the landlord and ask about long term agreements.

You can move into my flat when i move in a few months all being well.
