Gary Cahill ruled out now for euro's

martin kelly been called up in his place

just makes me wonder what a shame it is that we couldn't of taken wilshere, cleverley and kyle walker cos then it would of been interesting to see the next generation of players pitting their wits against the top teams

It beggars belief that Martin Kelly is drafted in before Micah Richards, I think Roy has lost the plot, 6 players in the squad from a crap Liverpool team that only managed 8th in the Premier League!

Have to be honest though wasn't Micah Richards 2nd choice towards the end of the season before Zabeleta hence why he may not have been called up?

We've got Steven Gerrard as captain who is in his 30's now

but to be honest if i'd of been england not bothered calling up Terry and Lampard who of course is injured now

and maybe calling up players such as Kieran Gibbs ( for the future ) as it would of been a good experience for him

only worry i have is that will Hodgson keep sticking with th 4-4-2 system against the bigger clubs?

and as Gary Neville pointed out on skysports a few weeks ago the consequences of playing a 442 against the likes of Germany and how you can get opened up etc

Tbh I don't think who he picks is the problem.  It's the attitude.  I went to the game yesterday and it was the the dullest game I think I have ever had the misfortune to watch.

Nobody wanted to tackle, nobody could string a few passes together and nobody made intelligent runs.  The goal was well taken, granted, but up until then none of the England team looked like they could be bothered.  After the goal, instead of pushing on, they let the Belgians onto them again.

There was no pace and no ideas.  Booting the ball high, upfield with the vertically challenged defoe and rooney upfront?  Why?

I think Hodgson is happy with going one up and defending a slender lead, but we can't do that against superior opposition and we will be found wanting when we have to chase the game.

Richards apparently threw a strop when he wasn't picked and refused to go on the stand-by list, so f**k him I say.

You know, with the negative boring defensive style that Roy's teams play, I have a feeling that England could actually win it. They could just do a Greece or Chelski 10 men behind the ball all the way to the final.. They were crap yesterday and managed just one shot on target but still won.  Reminds me of... er... Chelski? Greece?

Roy has a lot in common with Saunders. He's happy to let the other team have more possession and for us to have hardly any attempts on target. Spells disaster.

Can you blame him? He constantly gets overlooked, even though he is the best right back that England have got.

I'm sure that something more has gone on with Micah Richards and the FA, that's why he doesn't get picked...

Yes, I can blame him. To be selected for England is an honour and to refuse to be in the squad in any capacity is pathetic. I'd jump at the chance to be on stand-by, and if I was a player like Richards I'd probably think 'I'll go on stand by as its better than nothing', and then work hard to prove myself in the event I got called up. Which he would have been by now had he agreed to go on stand-by since defenders have withdrawn from the squad.

He can't sit around waiting, he's our best RB, he knows that, everyone knows that. Yet he constantly gets overlooked!

He should have been in the squad to start with, not having to rely on players getting injured before he's called up. It's a disgrace and if he retired from international duty right now, i'd back him 100%.

So would I, since my original post said I can live with him never being picked again.

He wasn't even getting in the City team for the last six weeks of the season. Why is he an automatic choice? Walker and Johnson are good as well, and actually would come into the tournament off the back of a good end to the season (if Walker wasn't injured).

As for Ferdinand's agent moaning today, well...

Indeed, who does Moralee think he is.

End of the day, the Manager has the right to pick who he sees fit to pick for his squad. I bet he doesn't go whining to Ferguson when he gets dropped from Utd's team.....

Agents, like kids, should be seen and not heard
