Best ever Rovers kit
« on June 03, 2012, 07:51:13 pm by albie »
Sorry if this has been done before, but here is the full home kit list;
http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Doncaster_Rovers/Doncaster_Rovers.htm

Got to say, the blue Tam O Shanters from the early days take some beating.

I started going in 65, so I have an attachment to the all white with red collar and cuffs, but the later 2 hoops I liked as well.

Worst are the chevron affairs imo. Anyone remember the African violet away kit from ??? I can only remember that we were crap when wearing it, so quite a bit span of time there then.

I too started in the white shirts with red trim days. The hoops are good but I love the original, it is just that!

I liked the Red and white hoops with white shorts and socks in the early eighties, also liked the 2006-07 with the red shorts and socks before they changed to black. It's got to be red and white hoops though, unique in the football league.

The Asics one from first year in the Conference for me, all red with the white stripes down the arms. Would rather we still played in all red rather than hoops to be honest, but I know I'm in the minority there.

I was not calling the people who wear it grotesque! It is a horrible shirt though.

I've got the green DFP Ribero away kit somewhere.

Terrible thing. Makes anyone who's ever worn it look like a hunchback. Massively wide but about two foot long -  I can only assume it was originally planned as a boob tube for John Merrick. Made out of some horrifcally flammable nylon that's only waiting for strong sunlight to go up in a ball of fire.

Badge looks nice though.

I can't remember if we wore the African violet at Anfield, Bob G, perhaps time has blanked it out. Someone must have photos of that great day. I can remember Kitch lobbing Clemence and hitting the bar though!

Maybe thats the secret. The Mersey minnows were so grossed out by our tasteless clobber that they went into a state of shock.

I think the African violet should make a return, it ranks alongside Coventry's appalling turd brown kit of legend. I can see that wearing turd brown might cover embarrassment from time to time, but African violet every time for shock effect.

Tam O Shanters for home games should be red though, defo!

I've got a vague memory of us turning out at Rotherham in a county cup match wearing a mustardy yellow shirt with brown shorts, it'd be around 76/77.

Got to be 67-69 for me. All white with red collar & cuffs.

Bought a version (pre replicas) in the shops & used to wear it for footie training. Had me mum sew a No. 10 on the back in red numerals. I was Rod Johnson for two years!

My dad used to run a Sunday team for Peglers and we bought a kit off Rovers. It would have been the kit from about 1978. The first kit I got was the 1980/81. I really liked the CIL and Pilkington Glass shirts from the early to mid 80's. I think they then went rapidly downhill until the turn of this century.

1993-94 "graphic" hoops sponsored by European Car Rental was my first shirt so it holds a special place in my heart.

Many think it's horrendous but I love it!
