Willie McKay

In the situation we are in

He could help us get out of this with the low numbers we have

I don't see the bitterness towards him, we got experienced players such as diouf, chimbonda, beye etc in, but that was only because we was in a relegation battle and required experience

Offered us Charlie Adam and James McCarthy in the past and they are now in the premiership so perhaps a missed opportunity there and just shows you what we could bring in with WM contacts

plus we had Fabien Robert who fans seemed to take a shine to as well

something for DS and JR to consider perhaps?

No one man should ever be discounted if they can offer something and I doubt he would be, he didn't do much wrong last season IMO, but it's been done to death.  If he offers a good player within the budget I'm sure we'd take it, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's been involved this summer without the knowledge of others.

I don't resent McKay like many do on here but I wouldn't want to see a load of mercanearies again, it caused a divide in the club. I'm totally happy for Willie to stay around the club and offer a quality player here and there though, such as Dorrans.  He's only ever tried to help us and he wont ruin a club where his sons are at.

Most rovers fans are so fickle and moan its unbelievable

they've been like it for years amd talk like they think we are man utd/barcelona or something

even when SO'D was here everyone moaned and moaned and the same is happening with DS

we could potentially make money with players McKay could recommened for and i actually have a liking for him

I agree with this totally. I mean last season we were in a a relegation battle, at least we tried something, it didn't quite work out, but we tried it. If Willie can get us one or two good players within the budget, let him

It's the shit/pointless players which pissed me off.

Bamogo/goulon/plessis?? No more of them please.

Fortune/Robert/diouf? Yes please.

No. Will you be disappointed if Goulon, Plessis, Bamogo and Bagayoko sign?

There's a difference between signing one player represented by McKay and adopting a policy where we sign all of his unsellable tat.

I agree and based on this thread nobody is saying sign all his tat.

Would like to see McKay maybe fetch in some young talent hungry to prove there worth - such as Robert! Players who want to play football and have the hunger to develop themselves!

People are just saying "maybe he could help us out". It's not clear whether they're endorsing the renewal of last season's policy or not (although I have no doubt that Norfolk is doing just that). Anyway, I highly doubt we could afford to sign Robert. We could only afford him last season because of the experiment and it doesn't look like our financial situation has improved.

2 points, firstly McKay only came because he thought he could make some money using us as a shop window, this won't be possible in League 1.

Secondly, JR and co have said that the "experiment" cost them a million pounds last year, if all the money is already spent how can we afford it?

But drfcsteve, no one is saying to revive the experiment, people are saying they wouldn't mind if McKay could offer players here and there. No one is suggesting anything like what we had last year.

I'm not sure about the two you mentioned but I've read above that he offered Dorrans. Sean O'Driscoll said that we came extremely close to signing Dorrans on loan but the deal fell through when West Brom suffered a few injuries and Dorrans broke into their team. Does that mean that this whole thing about Sean O'Driscoll refusing to do any business with McKay was b*llocks?

Saunders said in a Radio Sheff interview last season that Robert was his signing and nothing to do with McKay.
Mckay brought nothing to the table, apart from a load of washed up French league players. Yes Diouf had quality but his off the field antics were a disgrace.

"The experiment" I disagreed with, we tried something different and unfortunately it failed! Willie McKay as an individual, offering players to help the club I don't have a problem with! Be nice if McKay could find a few for us that we can take on long term, that will help us build for the future as apose to short term deals!

People can't understand that McKay came to try and make money out of us. Now people are talking like he's just gonna help us out of the kindness of his heart, I think some realism is needed.
