Yeah, sorry guys - I got all fickle and decided I couldn't be trashed to do a match thread after the performance on Saturday.  They don't deserve me, they don't.  I sit on my butt every game and sometimes drink beer for them, and they put in a performance like that.

So I'm not doing another match thread until Saturday.  Or I might do it on Friday night seeing as forgetting to do tonight's blog on Monday has caused me to run out of time tonight!

Looking forward to it as ever.  Could be interesting as I'm expecting at least 3 changes with Husband, Harper and Blake coming in.  As you'll see, I'm not exactly optimistic but, then again.  Hull will be resting players too . so.....maybe.....

Sub: Sullivan, Paynter, Cotterill, Meade, Middleton, Binns, Mullen

Makes you wonder why we didnt stick youth players on bench in league seeing as we could only pick 4 or 5 subs

Oh

The last time Rovers met Hull in this competition was in 1975. Rovers, then in the 4th division 2nd division Hull 2:1. The goals came predictably from Peter Kitchen and not so predictably from midfielder, Ray Ternant. The crowd? 20476 - a figure never exceeded at Belle-Vue since that date. I was lucky enough to be at that game, and for the only time ever, sat in the main-stand. I think my dad was nervous about having two little kids on such packed terraces and so decided to take a safer and easier option.

That year gave Donny their best performance in this competition, famously equalled by Dave Penney and his men in 2005/06 but never bettered. Rovers went out in the next round to Tottenham Hotspur. The 7:2 scoreline flattered Spurs terribly. Few records will show that Rovers leveled the tie at 2:2 after 52 minutes but then could no longer hold on to a Spurs side containing names like Martin Chivers and John Duncan (who between them scored 5 of the goals). I'd take either, or, or both should Rovers find their way past Hull. A plumb tie in the next round would be nice, or a nice run to the quarter-finals wouldn't be bad. Both? Well I could put up with that too!

...that was my intro - Anyone remember it?

Very poor defending, 3 chances to clear and none taken. Hull are keeping the ball well and we look scared to death of it

Quinn, McCombe, Jones, Spurr,

Did concern me about the lack of pace, but we seemed to cope in first couple of games. Perhaps we've been found out.

For me should be one or the other of Jones or McCombe paired with Spurr. Husband at full back but question marks over Quinn's pace also.

Its a different level of players too as well though. L1 strikers won't come much quicker and trickier than Ajose and he was handled fine on Saturday. I think there's certainly a "horses for courses" argument against the odd team though.

Blake, Harper and a late winner by Copps as a sign off before he goes to Hull and takes the piss out of the dressing room when he arrives

30 min gone and not even a shot on goal

Watching forest wigan game

Makes me wish we could go back to the passing 4-3-3 system instead of the 4-4-2 long ball we adopt these days
