A few Stats - League Table
« on November 21, 2012, 01:27:49 pm by big fat yorkshire pudding »
We now only need 3 points on Saturday to equal last season's tally at the end of the season.  I'm not sure if that shows how bad we were last season or how good we are this season in league 1?

After 18 games in our last promotion season we had 27 points, we are 6 better of at the current time.  League winners Swansea that season had 34pts after 18 games showing us to be one behind where they were at the time.

To win promotion that season 81 points was required.

In fact here's a summary below of points required to get firstly win the leage, secondly win promotion.

2011-12 = 94pts, 91pts
2010-11 = 93pts, 88pts
2009-10 = 87pts, 86pts
2008-09 = 90pts, 88pts
2007-08 = 83pts, 81pts
2006-07 = 86pts, 84pts
2005-06 = 80pts, 77pts
2004-05 = 87pts, 80pts
2003-04 = 84pts, 83pts
2002-03 = 87pts, 84pts

Averages = 87.1pts, 84.2 pts.

Based upon our current record we would get 84.33 points, so we're touch and go at the moment for automatics on average.  But I think one thing it does show is that at the half way point we need to be at 43 points really to be on track giving us a target of 10 points from the next 5 games.

Stats, are stats, just passed 20 minutes :D

I looked this up because I was sure you were wronf, we couldn't possibly hav only got 36 points last season...but we did! That's an unbelievable stat.

WRONG!! - but only just

You have transposed years 03/04 and 07/08. The winner has less than the promoted team
Changing the numbers to the correct column gives 87.1 to win and 84.2 to get promotion,

However your comments are dead right

Ha, knew I'd get one wrong, I'm so used to having two screens at work rather than flicking between pages at home.

So after 28 games we have 56 pts at 2pts per game.  That's one less than Swansea achieved when we went up last time they had 57 from 28 games I believe.  So based on those averages above we need another 28 points to hit the average for promotion from 18 games and 27 pts to hit the average for the title, looks positive.
