Was in the groom, When lads took tap roomThere was bottles flying over as the Saras lads tookOver
Nags, garden, beevems, Castle, Bull, Magdelen (slags r in) Queens, Woolpack, George, Red lion, Coach n Horses Saracens, Cleveland. Night in cells. No wonder you dint get pissed oslo if you missed so many pubs out cos I was with you pal!!
Eighties would be Camelots, Kings, Nags, Nelsons, Paris Gate, Bates, Joplins, High Bar, Garden, and a few others mentioned. All done up in white socks, sky blue box leather jacket, leather tie and tight pants. I must have looked a c***...................but I suppose it was acceptable in the eighties.Towards the end of the 80's and into the 90's, everything became market place based, with the George, Lion, Magdalens/Crystals, Black Bull, Castle, Groom etc etc with a splash of Scruffy Murphy's and Edwards. In both those era's I can't remember many pubs on Silver Street. Today it's like the centre point of Ibiza at night on there.Although, being a Thorne Hillbilly, going to town was a treat, as everything was already in Gods country and every pub was packed on a weekend night. For you Thorne'ykes, it would be Corra, Harlequin, Corner Pin (Nth Eastern), Punch Bowl, Windmill, Red Bear, Tavern, Hart and then onto the back room of the Tavern, Hart, Unc's. Finsh off with a Chinky from Sue's and then usually throw my ring up after too much Darleys. I used to love the Punch Bowl, it was the only respite from that liquid gruel in the town centre
No mention of The Staff of Life or the one that used to be on the corner of Wateredale opposite the southern bus station was it The Leger?.
Moving to Doncaster in January so what are the pubs with loose women and cheap beer?
