The Christmas Movie

Well we're trying to get into that Christmasy feeling. You know all the family fa la la la'ing together with that warm all over glow. One of the tactics we've employed in bringing the CR unit together and away from the internet, is to have movie nights......some sweeties, some dorito's etc etc

In truth we're really struggling on the movie front though.

Evening 1...........Jack and Jill starring Adam Sandler

Can I advise anyone not to waste 90 minutes of their lives like we did


2nd Attempt...................Jingle all the Way starring Arnie

As per evening 1

3rd Attempt..............Ghost Town starring Ricky Gervais

As per evening 1 and 2

We've done Dumb and Dumber and that went down well. I think I might introduce them to 'It's a Wonderful Life', but it's a bit morbid in places for kids

For a family gathering, you can't do better than The Muppet Christmas Carol. I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy it.

I'm liking these films, however I've never personally got on with the muppets. I just don't get it..........having said that, those 2 old boy critic types make me smile.


A Christmas Carol is good (any of them, including the new animated one from last year).


.....also team, Mysterious Island 2- forget that one as well. The Rock will do anything for publicity and money,  but Michael Caine ought to be ashamed of himself and shouldn't let himself go like this

BBC's The Gruffalo's Child was a real festive treat last Christmas.

Tim Allen's The santa clause..a great favorite in our house..

Pirates in an adventure with scientists is brill, not xmassy perhaps but fun all the same..

If you haven't seen it yet Brave is fantastic, really funny..

Die Hard is the only correct answer.

Failing that Gremlins. Gremlins is actually particularly good for the family as it has a bit of everything - comedy, horror, action, romance, cute animals (Gizmo!), fun monsters, the odd bit of gore and bodily fluid gags - a more perfect Christmas movie there is not. Die Hard is still my annual Christmas ritual however. Makes a change from all these puerile Christmas cash-in movies that come out every year, anyway.

Scrooged with Bill Murray is by far my favourite Christmas film.

And if you're buying a boxset for Christmas it has to be The Dark Knight Trilogy.

It was a modern take on A Christmas Carol. Absolutely hilarious, if a little dark side.

It's got to be Bad Santa!!
Maybe not suitable for Children though.
Alcoholic Santa and a Dwarf attempt a Christmas robbery with an abandones child storyline thrown in, brilliant.

For me it's Home Alone 1+2, Muppet's Christmas Carol and Miracle On 34th Street (the remake). All great films that never fail to get me in the Christmas spirit.
