PS3 game suggestion?

Mrs JD is banging on about getting me summat for xmas, even though I'm not bothered, apparently I've got to have summat to open.

I am keen to get back into gaming, as I have not bought/played a game since Red Dead Redemption all that time ago. I loved GTA and Red Dead, but since then haven't really played on anything. I get bored of Fifa's etc... and was wondering if anyone has any suggstions of games that might re-introduce that spark back into gaming.

I loved the Red Dead online gaming, but not the CoD's online battles (even though I enjoyed playing the actual CoD story modes).

I've seen that Hitman advertised on tv and was wondering if that might be any good.

Any recommendations?

Sounds like you're more into open world sandbox games, there's plenty of them on the market these days. Skyrim and Far Cry 3 are both great games in that mould. I don't really play much online but both those games have excellent, long single player modes that'll take you a while to get through.

Pretty much. I had the Elders Scroll but don't seem to remember finishing it, and obviously spent weeks on GTA4. GTA5 will be purchased in the spring, but just want summat to tie me over and get the gaming passion back.

A good online battle is a bonus as I do like playing some games online, I thought Red Dead's online battles were brilliant and certainly spent a lot of hours on them. But when it came to CoD I just didn't enjoy it one little bit.

Probably go for Far Cry 3 then, that does have a few online modes but unfortunately it's more like CoD than Red Dead. Other than that, maybe Assassins' Creed 3, but I haven't played it so know nowt about about that one.

Hitman is supposed to be good, if you're interested in that, plus I think it's gone down to £20 on Amazon already so the Mrs might appreciate that one!

i you fancy racing theres F1 Race stars. Like super mario cart but with real cartoon F1 drivers and cars.

I can't stop playing Battlefield 3 at the min. Much better than COD, and it takes proper teamwork to win online battles.

My mrs likes those kind of games and enjoyed playing that, I had a go, seemed good but very difficult

Recently completed Sleeping Dogs. An excellent game and the Hong Kong setting is refreshing.  I've been playing Far Cry 3 for two days. Getting mauled by a tiger has never been so fun.

They're pretty old now, so you've probably already got them or played them, but both Batman games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) are awesome. I'm not really a gamer other than FIFA but I played both of these to death.

Something I played this year, which I absolutely loved (particularly with not having much time to play games like I used to) is the Walking Dead games. If you're a fan of the show, the books, or just those old-fashioned point-and-click adventures from back in the day they're well worth a look, just won a boatload of game of the year awards too. They're episodic, so it's 5 fairly short games with one story at about £3.50 a pop. You just download them as and when you're ready for the next instalment, a bit different to what you might be looking for perhaps but I really enjoyed them, they might tide you over til Christmas.

The Batman Arkham series are good games, pretty awesome graphics and going very cheaply these days. F1 2012 is at its best this year and so is PES 13 (if you actually prefer gameplay and realism as opposed to the easily invented Fifa that focuses on licences to sell its game).

Wandering through the forest, seeing him behind a tree and trying to get away isn't any less terrifying no matter how many lights you have on, believe me!
