the Doncaster Rovers loco print by Gary Cartwright.
« on February 24, 2013, 10:38:42 pm by normal rules »
Some of you will have seen a framed print by Gary Cartwright in the Bar at the keepmoat by the artist Gary Cartwright. There were 350 signed limited copies made.
Does anyone know if there is one for sale locally in a shop or art dealer or for auction somewhere. I have trawled the interweb and can only find details of past auctions. Any info would help.
Thanks.

Not sure if it is the same one but there is a print that you can buy of the Doncaster Rovers Loco.  It isn't framed and I think there was 250 of them done.  Will try and get a picture and post it up.  If it's the same one I will get some contact details for you.

Thanks a lot, I think I know the print you are talking about. It's the Gary Cartwright one in particular I am interested in.

I seem to remember a few seasons ago (could've been when we first got back in the league) that every visiting chairman was presented with one of these prints on the pitch.

Wonder what the chairmen have done with 'em?

Put them up as pride of place in their office or hidden away in the corner of the garage?

You are quite right, every visiting manager was given one and one was given to the Wrexham chairman when they were going through their struggles with the racecourse ground. One sold in USA a couple years ago at a specialist art auction for just 30 usd.
I am trying to source one for my dad who has been watching rovers now for over 50 years. He grew up with the steam trains running out of and through Doncaster and wouldolive to get him a framed print. And Chris ( my brother), if you are reading this then keep stum!!! There are some cheap mass produced prints kicking about with a poster type pic of all the "football logos", but the Gary Cartwright one is the official commissioned print.

Or you may consider

http://www.locos-in-profile.co.uk/Prints/LNER/Footballers/Pages/Doncaster_Rovers.html

These are Limited Editions of 100. I got number 2 and believe the artist must keep all the Number 1's

These are superb and more like Tech Drawings as you can see if you hover over the Print or look at other pages on the website for the enlargements

I rate mine 100% - and cant believe he has not sold out at £19.50 + frame (by Deebee)

Quick question .
When people asked about purchasing prints, paintings or memorabilia of stuff I was offering was every post I put up taken down. Yet this post contains links to places where people can buy similar item is left up. I've only produced stuff for the benefit of true Rovers fans.
I'm very disgruntled with the ethos behind this site.

Give us a chance Tiddysdad! The post had only been up a few hours and we all have day jobs.

I think they are 45cm x 62cm, but I'll get back to you as soon as I've checked.

I see why you would be "miffed" and fro my point of view I only "promoted" the Site I did as an alternative to what was being offered as imo the one I have is technically superior to the Photo/Painting of the Loco in the OP

I don't know the artist / creator and so have no vested interest. Just believe that his is far superior but it depends on what each buyer wants I suppose

Cheers DW

I personally liked Tiddysdad offerings on here, because since they haven't been on here i don't know where i can find them to buy his mugs or whatever he might be doing at that time.
Plus he is a big miss on here, he used to let us have a look at his pre drawings, i don't know him i just found his posts entertaining, i can understand the site doesn't want things one person selling because everybody might want to.
But as this isn't a VSC forum officially, and there only seems to be the official vsc shop on here, like the fella told us about the Train prints, why can't there be a section where people can sell Rovers related things or even put it in off topic.

We don't want adverts all over the shop but why not be able to sell items to people who support the same team, and might be interested?, we don't want an ebay or anything like that but i don't see a big problem with it.
Everybody who sells something could donate some to the VSC or other charity affiliates.
