This striker we are crying out for
« on February 26, 2013, 08:58:21 pm by Albert Trousers »
Really wish we would have taken a gamble on Damien Reeves from Altrinchamin the summer, he has hit 24 goals this season(albeit at Blue Square North level) so clearly knows where the net is could be the difference we need heading into the final stages & we would have had 6 months to work on his rough edges. Can't remember why we didn't snap him up but seem to remember he had an illness in the family which meant he stayed in Donny rather than sign for Gillingham. Maybe we should try to loan him with a view to a move in the summer?

Fair enough if that's what he wants, I thought he was keen to sign for us though?

I remember a few strikers that the Rovers have bought that scored goals for fun, Williams, Alford, Jackson to name a few, then didn't when they played for the Rovers

he only wanted to stay semi pro in the lower leagues, he did want to come to us full time but after the initial approach by Deano he never heard another thing, Deano lost interest!

Don't know if it's true, but was he not a plumber by trade or something and could earn more as a semi pro and a tradesman?

Rather than be a pro with a non league club, yes.

He's a plasterer. Someone told me he played in a pre-season for Gillingham and wasn't even in the game. Apparently looked a bit out of his depth.
If we did take the gamble would he be championship class? I really don't think so.

He is a plasterer, he came to ours in December with his plasterer mate Brian who ended doing the job for me.  He said that there was interest by Deano but it fizzled out, he would have loved to be playing for the Rovers full time but the opportunity just didn't arise!!

There was interest from Doncaster but he wasn't actually made a firm offer to join the club. They ever actually got as farad discussing terms.

He also had interest from Gillingham and spoke to them but after they sold a goal keeper for big money they signed other targets.
