I'm pleased.

We don't know he's necessarily going to start. I rather have him on the bench than no CM in case one of the CM is injured during the game.

I suppose if he's here to fill out the squad, fair enough. We could do worse I think, and he can't be any worse than Harper. Having said that he's hardly going to solve any of the problems that were evident on Tuesday night so hopefully we have something else lined up!

Doent shoot the messenger, i saw it on twitter so posted it on here for everyone to see.

But yes what a poor signing the position we are in, Brentford signing players like Bradley Wright Phillips and we're signing Mark wilson, lol.

Don't get the wrong end of the stick here!

Yes he has signed as a non-contract player, but that has been done for a couple of reasons. 1) It enables him to participate in training and boost the numbers, i.e. provide opposition etc. 2) He is then also covered by insurance which is a necessity.

He could play if needed, but that's not why he's been brought in.

Yes SM, that may be true, but aren't you the one that just said that Jones was fit for Bournemouth.

Has someone nicked the cones?

Sorry why are we signing players to make up the numbers on the training field?

I am sure the youth lads could do that!

Wouldnt Flynn be better spending time bringing in loan players....Missing GK, CM, Forward

Those metal mannequin-type walls you use in free kick training don't come cheap ;)

In all seriousness I'm giving this one a "meh" in youth speak. I always defended him in the past as I felt he got unfair stick but on the other hand he's not in the mouthwatering class either. Like SM alludes to, he may not be here to go straight into the first team, just an option thats cheaper than a loan and we're getting close to the loan limit unless we "do a Watford".

Can't you only have 5 loan players in a squad though? - we have Hume, Lundstram, Howieson and Sinclair so that leaves only one more space.

If you look back over my posts you'll see I'm no Mark Wilson fan, but he is twice the player harper is and did a good job for us in League 1.

Interestingly (or not, delete as applicable) this means we've now got three players originally signed by Penney doesn't it?

A topic such as 'Mark Wilson' is very good at highlighting who on here is a fan, but no more than that, from those who understand the finer points of the game.

Nail on head. This is why I am baffled too.

And I'm a huge Willo fan.

I actually think he would good in our midfield tbh, twice the player harper would be, when he played he allowed stock wellens and oster to play and do what they were good at. Alright he wasnt technically brilliant but he was in a technically very good midfield and being compared to that. Plus wasnt he part of our most succesful ever midfield in the championship?

Yes, and I've quoted our points per game with/without Wilson during the second season (our best) in the championship. But to balance that out its worth noting that a) that was 3 years ago and b) that was part of a 3 man centre mid (or even 4 in some cases where Copps was played at the top of a diamond). In a 442 it could be very different...

 Let me guess. You think he's a good player, and so you purport to know more about football than the riff-raff that is merely a 'fan'?

He's not been signed to play for us, that doesn't mean he won't (stranger things have happened) but that's not the intention.

He's also non-contract, which means he's effectively free.

Is there an echo in here?

We all have opinions. But as a certain pig with delusions of grandeur might have said "Some supporters are better informed than others!"
