Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside says Kevin Davies will be granted a testimonial at the club - if he requests it.

If you were Kevin Davies, what would you say?

Testimonials can't be given by the clubs. A separate testimonial committee has to be set up for the player and the club then grants them permission to use its facilities.

Id say yes. Davies is 36, know's he is now unable to compete at the standard he plays at this season and has enjoyed a good contract with the club, which has im sure, set him up for many avenues he can take after his retirement.

IF we get promoted I would definitely give Davies a one year deal. He is a South Yorkshire lad and would welcome the chance to continue playing. Just the type of figure you need in the Championship.

He's like Kevin Phillips in a way. Always going to chip in with a goal here or there. (Or it seems that way, I've not been keeping up with the Championship this season.)

Davies would just stop you getting bullied. He is a big, big lad with lots of experience at that level and above. Would welcome him into squad IF we get to Championship. People would look up to him and with good reason.

The other experieced player I would go for is Phil Neville who has said he would like to go down the leagues to keep his career alive.

Which is more than can be said for most of the players that pulled the England shirt on against Montenegro

Wins a lot of headers. And, erm, that's about it. No thanks.

Remember a few years ago when we played Bolton in the cup. Bullied the hell out of our defence. Would have him here like a shot

Whilst my gut reaction is that I'd offer him a year's contract, that deal would have to be strictly "pay-as-you-play". Apart from Steve Nicol can anyone remember a player at the back end of a top-flight career being any good for us?

Mike Newell?
Robbie Blake?
John Bloody Sheridan?

Not to mention any of that shower we had last season!

One for the stattos: I've often speculated that Southall must be the only player to go Prem (Everton)-Conf (DRFC)-Prem (Bradford) in the space of a season. Am I right?

Kevin Davies would do a decent job for a year I'd say. Hopefully the board would have cash to pay his booking fines off.
Legendary beer guzzler as well.

Kevin Horlock was brilliant until he signed permanent terms then he was permanently injured. I see what you mean though, I don't see what Davies would bring to us at this stage. He'd just be a less mobile Chris Brown, surely.
