Players cars...
« on April 22, 2013, 08:22:46 am by Red Rover »
What is the crack with the players cars??? I pass a few of them on the way to training in a morning...last week I saw Billy Paynter in a 55 reg Ford Mondeo and Tommy Spurr in a clapped out old Toyota estate?! Tommy Spurr also has a white Mercedes ML...I was wondering if it was some sort of bet or something?!  :s

Its not a new thing, in the good old Championship days JJ used to drive an old, beaten up Peugeot 206.

Rob Jones has got some sort of 1990's blue peoples carrier.
It's huge but completely battered!

He'll have it if he scores 17 at Brentford.

I saw an old Rover the other day, registration SH1T. I wonder if it was Sam Hird's?

It's seen better days!
If I see the car parked at the gym or at the ground, I'll try and get a picture of it.

Humey has got a C-Class Merc coupe. I think a few of the lads from Leeds, Brown, Woods, Paynts etc bought a people carrier and all come into training together. At Scunny last week I pulled into the car park and said "where's the players car park" and got in for nowt! I do it all the time at away matches!

Just googled it Martin,
It's the Chrysler 300C (otr price from £36k), so I guess with those tyres & matt finish, it must've cost him £45k?

Very individual, but I guess his C02 emissions are horrendous!

Even if I had the salary that warranted an expensive car - I don't think I'd buy one - Cars have never really been my thing.

I once bought (without realising what it was - to me it was a nice black ford at a reasonable price and a step up from my previous cars - a Nova and an Escort) a Sierra RS Cosworth for £400 on an old H Plate. That was pretty nice.

I also had (which I loved) up until 18 months ago a silver Toyota Celica (03 plate) and that was without doubt the nicest motor I've ever driven. A chrysler Sebring (sp) in Florida was a lovely hire car!

I have no idea how much this cars retail out at on the road - my Celica cost me just under £5k with the tax and all that.

I would even on a Lg 2 wage packet probably go no higher than the new Toyota GT86 - but that's only cos I loved my Celica!

Funny isn't it - I know one or two lads with very decent bank-balances and one of them is changing quality cars quicker than his underwear at the moment, and the other guy has had some real machines in the past - including an Aston Martin!

I wonder why many (not all by any means) pro footballers feel the urge to have a status symbol car too as well as a status symbol job. Still I suppose the majority of footballers are all young lads anyhow - maybe that's it!

If you look at the plate quickly, it actually appears to read as Herpes.

I hope none of the players read this forum, as I'd hate for them to "point" that out to him ha ha

Just checked over here and Chrysler 300 starts at $ 30,000 or 19,700 pounds, as opposed to your 36,000 pounds which is $ 54,000.

So over there, the car costs more in pounds than it does here in dollars and there are 1.52 dollars to the pound.

I've got a new Merc E350 coupe sport and its a right machine, I notice the difference when I drive our lasses fiesta. No value in expensive cars, you are always going to do your dough on them.
