Quickest way is to get on the train at Brentford - get off at Vauxhall and catch the Victoria line (tube) straight to Kings Cross.

DO NOT go via Waterloo, you will be adding at least 20 minutes on your journey time. There is no direct tube line from Waterloo to Kings Cross, plus the trains going into waterloo are sometimes stacked up waiting to get in the station.

Personally I'd have a walk up to South Ealing and jump on the Piccadilly Line, straight to Kings Cross.

We have an office in Isleworth and I always take the Victoria Line and change at Vauxhall seems to be the quickest, takes a bit of time though whatever getting out that way.

Living in Hounslow with both rail and tube, always choose rail.  Definitely train from Brentford to Vauxhall and then tube to Kings Cross.  Brentford station is 5 mins from the away end. Also at least 4 trains an hour and only takes 30 mins.  Short walk to tube, 15 mins max on tube.

The South Ealing - Piccadilly route may not necessarily be quicker. Its a 15-20 minute walk to the station and then 13 stop until Kings Cross. But it may be better on saturday because on rugby days the trains are always rammed - on full England international you can't get on em. How many they expecting at this forces game?

There is a third option for the more adventurous:

Walk to Kew Gardens station - Overground - Euston - Kings cross literally 2 mins down road.

Should take about just over an hour this route me thinks.

I'd take Picc.Line Tube from Sth Ealing everytime.

Should comfortably walk to the Tube Station by 17.25 (and allowing a few minutes at other end to walk from Tube to Mainline Station), according to TfL's Journeyplanner*, any of these scheduled Saturday pm tubes should do the trick:
17.26 (arrive Kings X Tube 18.05)
17.29 (18.07)
17.33 (18.10)
17.39 (18.16)
17.42 (18.19)

We are on this train too.

Can we have a definitive line of least resistance please ie little waiting times. Train or Tubes?

Come on you Bee's fans and ill promise the lads will go easy on you this Saturday ie we'll keep the score down

I lived in London a few years ago and have visited on many occasions since.

I would always recommend the minimum of changes on train/tube journeys, even if that does mean a bit of a walk to a more convenient station.  Especially after a football match where the closest station may be busiest, with home supporters maybe heading out of London therefore more likely to use trains rather than the tube.

Plus the tube is direct to Kings X.

I'd agree with IDM. Least changes would always be my approach - less scope for things to go wrong.

My concern with the train from Brentford would be a delay or cancellation (which tend to be more common on Overground than Underground services).

That said, anyone taking either route would be very unlucky to get to KX any later than ten past six.

I'm going to stick with Brentford Station after the game as most of the home fans will either still be in ground celebrating or will have gone home miserable by the time we reach the station. Also my train home is 19 hours after the game finishes so I'm in no rush!!

I'm with 'IDM' on this one (above) - the Tube from Sth Ealing is easier.

You'd probably be OK taking the Overground train from Brentford BR, but it's a minor halt on a branch line, with short trains which only run 3 or 4 per hour? So at the very least it's liable to be crowded, and if there should be a problem, the delays can stack up.

Whereas South Ealing is on the main Underground service between Heathrow and the centre of London, so is designed to cope with the rush.
