Remember Leeds walking into middle of pitch with track suit tops on to wave to crowd
Also those stupid things that attached to socks with players number on
As much as you knock them they were professional money making gits

Also Don Revie had something to do with Admiral. As soon as he got the England job, they were suddenly wearing Admiral as well.

Some great memories of the sports shops in Donny. As a kid, I could spend ages in Harrisons and Suggs. Are either of them still about?

Suggs was the only sports shop I could get the stems I liked for my darts. Whenever I returned home I used to stock up.

Both Sport shops are long gone now, is there a sport shop left in town now? Inter Sport has just shut down. Other than those clothes shops in the Frenchgate, I think they're all out of town.

The sock tags and the smiley badge were Revie I believe, ahead of his time on the gimmicks front.

If I remember correctly it was Don Valley Sports in Waterdale and Don Sports in Spring Gardens. I use to get all my Subbuteo from the hexagon toy shop in the middle of Bowers Fold. Think it's a shirt printing place now. Anyone remember that shop or am I showing my age lol

Showing your age   :)  afraid to say I remember it as a toy shop, didn't it always have those petrol engine model planes in one of the windows?

Cuttriss's was a proper lads shop. It had everything toy soldiers laid out in battle scenes, model aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling, gliders.....I loved that shop.

Proper memories thanks guys
There used to be a toy shop at Balby that actually repaired stuff compared to today's throw away society
On the subject of subuteo I had a team with a kit that looked marginally like Rovers, had a scoreboard too and floodlights, remember being disappointed they never had red lights on top ala Belle Vue

Why no mention of the Doll's Hospital  ?

Half way down High Street - a proper Toy Shop that went back "miles" and allegedly was easy to nick from !

Its probably now a Pub but no problem there - Toy Shop when I needed it and now Pub when I need one !

Anyone have any idea when these first became available, who has the oldest/most
I seem to have loads in loft
When I first started watching rovers I don't seem to recall replica shirts being the norm  (without giving my age away Brian Usher was my favourite player at the time)

Around the 1960 s you would not have dared to wear a replica kit ! A scarf was "ok" but then you could hide it quickly if you were in any danger of getting "rolled" by any opposing fans

We are still appalled by the antics of certain Teams fans these days and the trouble is still not totally dead - but by god you don't realise (if you are of a younger age) JUST how BLOODY GOOD it is to see replica shirts everywhere - because it just underlines how far the "lot" of the Football Fan has come

Also Don Revie had something to do with Admiral. As soon as he got the England job, they were suddenly wearing Admiral as well.

Don Revie, (at least as a manager) was always in the game to make a bob or two for himself. It is said that he spearheaded the idea of selling the new Admiral Leeds shirts to the public for nearly three times the cost. In fact looking through the history books it was 1973 when Leeds got the admiral contract and not 1975 like I said in my previous post.

He won England the contract from Admiral too, people speculated that he must have been taking a nice slice of the royalty (only 10% of which went to Admiral) and that was all but confirmed when he resigned to take charge of the United Arab Emirates for £34,000 a year, an astronomical amount in those days for a manager. Lets not forget he told the Daily Mail about his resignation before the FA as well (probably for a small fee of course).

Oslo, I don't want to make you weep. But in 2010 in preparation to move to Canada, I put up my subuteo Football and Rugby for sale on Ebay. I had some rare teams i.e. Ziare. I must have made around £500 selling the lot. Didn't do well trying to sell books, infact I sold two Orbis Football Albums I wish I had kept.

Your memory is intact. Subbuteo's cricket and rugby variations were crap.
Me and my brother liked a cricket game called Test Match though, I think Fred Trueman used to advertise it.

And let's face it, once Dino Dini Brought out his football emulator 'Kick Off' out, it made table football look pretty crap. It's a bit sad but computer games have made Subbuteo redundant I'm afraid.

I love how this has moved on from replica kits.

Anyone else used to get the league ladders out the shoot at the start of every season? -Mine were always knackered by the end of August.

Also got the league chart from out of Roy of the Rovers every year.

I sold all the Subbuteo trophies on e-bay a few months ago and got 20-30 quid for each one. Best deal was selling the 1982 England team to a kid in Italy for 60 quid. Still got pitch, nets and few teams left I need to flog.
