Worst Kits

After seeing how bad the new Liverpool kit is,  I was wondering which kit people think has been the worst looking.

The luminous Blunt away kit from several years back was pretty vile.

That Dull shirt looks like a seat cover from an old Ford Cortina

How about the Carlisle United " Deck Chair" done to accommodate the Eddie Stobart sponsors colours

It actually looks better here than when it was being worn for real

http://www.truecoloursfootballkits.com/articles/the-kit-cupboard-carlisle-united-away-kit-1995%E2%80%9397

Wolves also had a horrendous Shirt with tyre tread marks all over it when sponsored by Good Year (they have not had a Good Year for ages)

Our near neighbours need not snigger either

Looking for the Coventry City Chocolate with Lemon egg timer design I found this .... which features the "worst" ever away kits including our own African Violet one

Note the Coventry one and the Carlisle one mentioned above

 http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Articles/iconic-change-kits.html

Huddersfield Man City and Peterborough worth a look and in fact Peterborough now gets my vote

There are a few good kits amongst those in that list. Liverpool away 1978, what's wrong with that? Halifax Town 1971, Huddersfield Town 1971, Luton Town 1976 is something of a classic as is Man City 1969.

Edit: Ah, I really should read the blurb properly. Iconic away kits. So a combination of best and worst, sort of makes sense, often the bad ones are fondly remembered.

Looking down the historical kits, I'd say the worst Rovers home kit is the Olympic Sports 1997 makeshift effort.

Brighton's 1991 away kit was a belter.....from the stands, the small red and white checks made it look pink, which was highly amusing for the terrace wits, having regard for the alleged sexual preferences of the Brighton populous.

Sporting Charleroi had a rather garish zebra print home shirt this season, very much in the mould of that rather fetching Hull City tiger kit. Definately worth a look!

Worst (or best  ;)) sponsor?

I don't think we can crow when we probably had the least appropriate Shirt Sponsor for a professional Sports Club in Ledger** Mobility-complete with a logo of a Wheelchair (my deepest respect to anyone needing one either temporarily or permanently of course)

** and it still encourages people to spell the St Leger incorrectly !

Maybe - but that's the shirt that SFT wore when he scored THAT goal - so it could have any sponser at all on for me and it'd still be a classic!

I still think that 'jagged hoop' kit from 92ish ish one of the worst kits in history ever. And not just our history, anyone's.
Hideous!!
Still makes my eyes hurt at the thought of it. Compared to that even brown and yellow kits are tame.

Newcastle's two-tone yellow one from a couple of years was horrendous.

Bloody hell, is that Brighton one the only kit that's been made by Magic Eye?

Funny how people's views differ - I love the jagged hoop kit.  It was the first kit I bought and I consider it my lucky kit (I wore it to Stoke and Cardiff) even though we were fairly rubbish at that time.

The 'Lightning Stripes' (official description) is my favourite Rovers shirt.

Huddersfield had a garish pink away shirt around 1990 that said 'Vileda Supermop' vertically down one side on the front.

From a design point of view I think the scribbled hoops and the seaweed on the shoulder away kits were atrocious.

They did though at least have character, which is why they have become cult classics.

The Nike shirts we've had recently won't be as fondly remembered, except perhaps by those who think a tick on the chest gives it more class.

Never noticed the spelling, will have to ask Dave G about that, if I recall he won the sponsorship in a draw

I was on holiday with a Brighton fan (Hello Paul) the year they had that kit, and you should have seen the home kit too.  The shorts had the same stripes as the shirt!  They looked like f*&king deckchairs.
