New kits
« on June 14, 2013, 12:36:30 am by Woodhead Passer »
When are they due to go on sale?

EDIT: I take it that with no reply, nothing has been confirmed for when they are on sale. But why do we always leave it late to have them in the shop? Most teams can buy theirs by now.

The club are waiting for them. On the issue of why we leave it late, the club are still pushing on sellung season tickets and understand that the money for S/T's is a lot for some people and wouldn't want that jeopadised with people opting to spend the money on a couple of shirts before a S/T. Some people think we leave it late, some people think we do it just right.

We definitely do this far too late. People want them to go on their holidays with. We don't even have a picture of what the real thing looks like, just a drawing. I know it's great that we got to pick the kits (and even partially design them), but we should have them on sale a lot earlier.

The club have already received sample shirts. Any chance we could see some photos so we can actually see what they look like?

I am not worried when they go on sale, if it is late July at least we'll have had the chance to see the kit in action pre-season, and in photos etc, to decide if we want to buy it.

I agree with the sentiment about putting ST sales first.

Spoke to lad in shop and said we should have them sometimes in July.. Hopefully will get a couple put in shop to drum up interest! Maybe the reason why we ain't signed anyone is that they want a pic with shirt!

Just to add, I saw these in the office a few weeks ago and in the "flesh" they look great. I very rarely wear a football shirt but even I would consider buying the away shirt!

I would have thought they'd have unveiled the new kits during this boring time of year for fans. Although Rovers tend to do it by 'accident' when we sign a player and someone quickly chucks 'em the shirt to hold up.

Well last season it was unveiled at the fans forum, in 2011 it was in the 4 day picture, 2010 Billy Sharp unveiled it when he signed; 2009 it was all a big secret and unveiled in club shop, 2008 it was unveiled by those leaflets ST holders received in the season ticket package (which included a DVD, coaster, ruler, window sticker and other things and in 2007 Martin Woods unveiled it.

So I wouldn't say it is the norm for the club to unveil it by accident.

Was just thinking that.  The one year we did get our act together I got one for F.Day.  Some other clubs make a real push for fathers day too.

When do we get to see the full shirts in a picthure then? Obviously some fans have alredy seen it, so we have to go on their word about how nice it is. Why do som get to see it and not us all?

Club are slaking here fgs.

Missing out for Father's day!

Yes, and missing out for Christmas, Birthdays, Valentines, Mothers day, any other bloody anniversary for these one season wonder kits!

Sooner or later the penny will drop, replica kits are off the agenda for 2/3 of us (remember the poll) until they find a manufacturer/supplier who can guarantee supply for 2 seasons at least.

For eg.  3000 potential audience. 1000 are willing to buy shirts every season. 2000 are not.

New shirts every season - sales = 2 x 1000
New shirts every other season = 3000

Call me thick or naive. Can someone tell me why, if there's more profit to be had by having new kits every other season, why they don't accommodate it?

Bit blunt and simplistic in your analysis there mate. If you remember that poll, more people said they'd prefer a new kit every other year, not that they were unwilling to buy one every other year.

I'd prefer the shirts to cost £30, but I'll still go out and buy them when they're £40. And that's why the club charge £40. Similar logic applies with a new shirt every year.

Polls on here are pointless becos its only asking like 100 or so fans.

Yes. may be a little simplistic, but the inference being more people would buy every other season than a combination of the numbers buying every year.

Still the same scenario about them mostly being off the list of worthwhile presents for Christmas if they are become 'so last year'  in 4 months.

If going as many people suggested, where new home and new away kits are alternated, then that would satisfy the thirst for something new each season whilst observing the 2 season turnaround.

I think the fans engagement in the design of the kits is an excellent idea and that in itself should help sales.

What sample size would you recommend as a minimum to gauge the percentage response of a reasonable cross section of the fanbase?

more than 100/200. Our fan base is like 4-5k? letters/calls to sth and make polls avalable on the offiscial site, facebook and all that. This site is not the sole place for fans to have there say.  a lot of the time i get the impreshion that the vsc think they are in charge of fans and the only way for people to have there say.
