The message is getting out.
« on July 27, 2013, 07:24:10 pm by newyankee »

I was at a County Fair in Wisconsin today and noticed a young lad in a Man U  top. His father was signing up for some of my companies products. He, the father, noticwed my accent and asked if Man U were my team. My reply was no, my second team after the Munich disaster.

My team is Doncaster Rovers, I said. With that he went into an orgasmic state, " Yeh, you won promotion last year with some team missing a last minute penalty and then going upfield and scoring the winning goal.  Absolutely brilliant, I saw it on Fox Soccer and thought how great it was. Good luck this conming season".

Nice to know it's not just the big four who people are intersted in.

Funny is that, as i had that type Of conservation with
Some unknown  noggys to me in a bar

After i told them my team was donny rovers.

Got the same comments, since they had seen footage
Via you tube after reading about it in noggy sports sections.

I was in Perth, Australia  in 2008 the day we beat l**ds at wembley. I had been on a Sunday sesh wearing my rovers shirt. A load of Aussies came and patted me on the back on the train on the way home, loving it that we had won. Quite fitting really, there's a area called doncaster in Perth. Got that pissed that night I nearly fell off a 3rd floor balcony

We often used to frequent a place called the shed. $4 pints, happy days

I thought they drank schooners (sp?) in Oz.  400ml or thereabouts?

Correct, and the spelling also bang on too.

Roughly £3 a throw at the minute  :pinch:

Do you know what the measure of one is, Tom?  Is there a standard schooner measure?  I know its some way short of a pint.

I also heard that bars in Oz arent allowed to sell alcohol for 10 mins every hour.  Is this true?

A schooner is 425ml or 15 fl oz, so some way short of the 568ml that is in a pint.

Nipping out for a few schooners doesn't quite have the same ring to it!

I've never come across the ten minute rule, that's not to say that it doesn't exist. But they are extremely strict - to the point of frustration - about intoxication.

You have to hold a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate ($50 / £30) just to work behind a bar, or even in an offy  :suicide:

three quarters of a pint then as 20 fluid ounces = a pint.
They would go down a bit too easy.

Schooners are more of a New South Wales thing. You can get them in other states as well but are more popular there. Pints are available. My Aussie mates believe that the schooner was developed due to pints getting too warm in the summer.
