Spurr on de da wireless
« on August 02, 2013, 06:48:06 pm by donnyallday »
Sounded a bit down beat after leaving us, loved it here and how the fans took to him with being an ex wendy[ his words]. Disappointed by the way his contract with us dragged on with the investment being slow in coming, or not.

Good luck Tommy.

No doubt the club will thank him by email, we lost a great player because of the supposed investment. Spurr would have signed if we had offered him a contract instead of playing the waiting game

If we had shareholder with any ambition he would still be here.

Bramall has blood on his hands.

What, those hands that he puts into his pocket each season to help fund the shortfall?

Hang on

Spurr said the club were dragging it out until the investment came in, Ryan said Spurr was asking for too much money

mmmmm.......reading between the lines Spurr's agent got wind of the investment & upped their fee/wage demand?????

I reckon the latter is probably the truth, we don't know the real answer so lets not berate the club when we don't know the facts.

I'd go with that!

Oh for goodness sake grow up!  You are entitled to your opinion but no matter how passionate we feel about our club it is just a football club.  Get some perspective in all this!

Some pretty poor comments on here. Yes Tommy was a fantastic servant to this club but for whatever reason he's no longer here. Players move on. Time for James Husband to do his thing.  :rtid:

If its true he's gone to Blackburn on a £2 million contract then there's no way we can compete with that! If anything is to blame its the parachute payments that allow failures such as Blackburn to outspend clubs that excel themselves & try to move up the food chain! Give me JR & the KM2 over a bunch of chicken farmers who don't give a stuff (ing) about the club they own except to make a profit!

Lets pull together and f*ck them over when they come to TLO Donny on the 16th!

But if we had got Tommy signed up then if Blackburn were so desperate for him we would have got some money.
But not to worry as long as we balance the books and keep Donny Rovers a stable club.

And if my auntie had b*llocks she'd be my uncle!

We wanted him, he didn't sign - I guess the agents were involved and wrecked the deal, for folks to berate the board in this way is beyond belief.  I thought we finished all that the other day?

Loyalty in football? Having said that he has a family to support and probably a short career so who amongst us would have stayed at rovers for less and on a shorter contract???? I'm a lifelong rovers fan & I'd struggle with it, so I'm sure it wasn't too difficult to decide for tommy. No, he did well for us last year and for that I'll clap him when Blackburn visit. Having said that I also hope we kick their arses and send him home regretting his decision!

Why didn't we extend his contract last season?
Did we not learn anything from the Paul Green situation?

How do you know we didn't try to extend his contract last year? Perhaps he wanted to see what division we were in before committing himself. I just feel the club/board are getting a lot of criticism without people knowing the full facts.

A £2m contract for two years would equate to just under £20k a week! No competing with that.

No loyalty?

Where do I claim back the half a glass of Pinot Noir I've just spat out all over the lappy.

Are you for real?

It's a career we are talking about, not a bloody vocation.

Sometimes I really do despair.

I've posted this elsewhere but all you guys suggesting the club have no ambition and should put their hands in their pockets for even more money should take a look at this and realise we are a small fish in a big pond;

It's shocking that Leicester lost 32 million that season. It's scandalous that clubs can be run in this manner.

From the Blackburn Rovers official site:

Referring to the Spurr signing, [Blackburn Chief Exec Derek] Shaw added: “I am extremely surprised that Doncaster have stated that it's a 'multi-million pound' deal, because I can assure our supporters that it is not."

that's not my argument. We should have had him signed up ages ago and not given Blackburn or anyone else for that matter the opportunity to sign him
