Formation/team v Blackburn
« on August 15, 2013, 04:12:41 pm by RobTheRover »
I think Theo Robinson's addition to the squad gves us an interesting conundrum.  Stick with the 4231/451 formation, or mix it up a bit?

I'd go....

               Turnbull

Wabara Jones Khumalo Husband

                  Wellens

Copps          Syers             Cotts

              Robinson
                        Brown

Subs: Quinn, Duffy, Keegan, Paynter, Wakefield, Bennett, Maxted.

Duffy           Copps            Cotts

Anyone know if Furman will  be back?

Wouldn't deviate too much from that Rob. Not sure just Wellens in front of two full backs who have looked questionable from a positional sense would work from a cover point of view so I'd be tempted to either start Quinn over one of the full backs or Furman over Syers and make him sit a bit deeper.

                                    Turnbull

Wabara             Jones                   Khumalo        Husband
                                   Wellens
                                   Furman
Copps                                                               Cotts
                         Robinson       Brown

Subs:
Maxted, Quinn, Syers, Paynter, Duffy, Bennett, Keegan

Maybe a bit harsh on Duffy but think now we have someone with genuine pace to get beyond Brown we should be using it, particularly at home.

That looks a big hole in midfield there, DNoel.

Thats why I went with Wellens and Syers.  Syers' energy could be critical in making it work.

I like Syers, and his energy like you say is Greeny-esque, just think Furman shades it from a defensive point of view which is how I'd start the game. Syers gives two options coming off the bench - as a CM or as part of the advanced 3 that we've been seeing this season. If I were to start Syers (and its a toss up tbf) I'd start Quinn as well.

I agree, Sayers won't even make the bench. Neither will:-

Turnbell, Weelens, Coppenger, Thurman or Painter.

If he keen to start Robinson that's the team I'd go for except might play Keegan if Furman knacked from the flight

I`d be surprised if Furman played, he tweeted earlier today that he was off to see family before flying back this evening

The international round up report on DROS says he'll be back in time.  Whether he plays, is another matter.

Is that like the Glen Hoddle Christmas Tree formation, just only in our own half, Iberian?
