To be fair the guy on sky who's neutral says its the correct decision .

He clearly knows f**k all. He said the ground staff had done a fantastic job, when everyone else at the game have said the groundstaff haven't even been on the pitch.

Let's hope this goes in to the refs match report and Charlton are fined for not taking sufficient steps to get the game back on.

Farcical and one again, the fans suffer !! Refunds ??

Hang on. If the red card stands then so should the result.

I note on BBC they are showing it as a result.

Funny feeling really ....i'm not too disappointed ,remember we lost a 2 goal lead on Tuesday and that was with 11 men.

This could easily have gone the same way.  :(

To answer my own question, the card stands, so in actual fact the ref has screwed us always, he takes the players off looks like he`ll abandon it, then brings them out for the rest of the first half, sends a rovers player off, the rain apparently eases and the ball was apparently rolling better than it did the whole of the first half and he abandons it when we`re 3-1 up, the goals don`t count but the red card does!!!!

I agree Filo but I'm sure I have seen this happen before and couldn't believe the injustice of it.  Could be wrong though.

The cynic in me thinks that at first Charlton were desperate to get the game abandoned and then they realised if they didn't play till half time they'd have to give everyone who paid refunds.

I'd suggest that everyone boycotts the rearranged fixture.

2 yellows are only a 1 game ban , so he'll only miss the Leeds cup tie......I think.

The ban starts 7 days later, he misses the Bournemouth game

To be honest, after the frustration of the abandonment has died down, the pitch was unplayable in some areas.  Yes it was the same for both teams, but it was difficult to play.

Realistically, the ref should have abandoned the game when he took the players off first time.  The false restart in which we conceded a goal and had Keegs sent off was daft.  The conditions on the pitch got no worse in that period, so why not make a firm decision and stick by it?  I didn't like the fannying about IMHO.

As for the goals being wiped out but not the yellow cards, that's just how it is, frustrating, but within the rules I believe.  Had it been the other way round, we'd have wanted it abandoned.

As for the rematch, yes we lose the 3-1 advantage but we start again with 11 men.

However, another very encouraging performance, with chances being taken in front of goal.  Plus Turnbull made 3 or 4 saves of real quality - Charlton looked like scoring more and there was no cetainty we'd hold onto the lead....

Well said IDM, I think at the time, everyone was furious with the decision to abandon the game. But looking back, the pitch was unplayable, especially down the right side where Copps and Wabara were. If it was abandoned when we were 3-0 up and had 11 men we would have more right to moan, but as you say, we will have 11 men in the rematch.

We played some great, fast, fluent football at stages, even with the puddles, which shows promising signs. Charlton didn't look anything special.

I've just taken this randomly from the F A suspensions list and it appears to to start on the day of the offence.

Sheffield Wednesday FC   Jermaine Johnson From 06/08/2013 until 24/08/2013
Suspended from all first team football until the Club have completed 3 first team matches for a  Sending Off in a match played on 06/08/2013.

That will be because it was a straight red, two yellows = red, the suspension kicks in after 7 days and is only a 1 match ban
